Credit Makeup

Credit makeup should start with your teacher that you lost credit with. Make contact with your teacher and ask if there is a way to makeup the credit that was lost. Teachers do have your best interest at heart and are usually willing to work with you in order to makeup credit. You must be willing to do your part and make the effort to work with the teacher to do whatever needs to be done to make up the credit.

If the teacher can not help you make up the credit that was lost, then you need to meet with your Counselor and discuss options to make up credit. After meeting with your Counselor there are usually two options to makeup credit. Option one, is Homestudy Packets; this option allows you to purchase a Homestudy Packet for $25.00 per quarter credit. The packet is taken home and when completed brought back to the Counseling Office at which time a computerized test over the materials in the packet will be administered to the student. Upon completion of the test the student will be awarded the credit for the packet. Payson High School has a limited number of packets and do not cover all subject areas. Option two, is to makeup credit through the Electronic High School. EHS is a wonderful way to makeup credit; you must have access to a computer and the work is completed at home. When the credit is completed EHS will send the credit to Payson High School and we will transfer it to your transcript. The options listed above are for credit makeup, not for credit to get ahead. If you wish to earn credit to get ahead or to graduate early make an appointment with your Counselor to discuss what requirements are needed to graduate early. Meet with your Counselor early; many of the requirement to graduate early take months to accomplish.
