Spanish Fork Junior Earns Nebo #Hashtag Award

Congratulations to Spanish Fork Junior, in Nebo School District, and their school PR team for earning the Nebo #Hashtag Award. This award is given to the school that communicates to their parents and students, in a variety of ways, the events and important news items happening at school.

Principal Matt Christensen and Vice Principal Alesha LeMmon accepted the award for their school. Rillene Nielsen is the School PR Ambassador. Congratulations on a job well done!

Nebo Partners with the Utah Highway Patrol on Seat Belts and Safety

Members of the Utah Highway Patrol and local police officers partnered with Nebo School District to give high school-aged students a seatbelt safety reminder. As school let out at each of the high schools in Nebo including Springville High, Maple Mountain High, Spanish Fork High, Salem Hills High, and Payson High, approximately 100 officers and student council representatives handed out over 8,000 candy canes. The student council also created motivational signs to remind students the importance of wearing a seatbelt, especially this time of year.

State Superintendent Visits Nebo Schools

The State Superintendent, Sydnee Dickson, spent the day in Nebo School District with Nebo’s Superintendent Rick Nielsen. Superintendent Dickson was appointed the State Superintendent in 2016. She entered the state education administration about ten years ago, working in teacher licensing, mentoring and accreditation, then later becoming director of teaching and learning at the state office.

Springville Mayor's Youth Award in Nebo

Christmas came early for eight wonderful Nebo students who were recognized in front of a full crowd at Tuesday’s Springville City Council Meeting. The Mayor’s Youth Awards recognize students in the community that exemplify hard work, determination, kindness and positivity. Teachers and the principals from Cherry Creek and Meadow Brook Elementary submitted several nominations. The following students were chosen to receive this special award presented by Councilman Jason Miller; Samantha Steiner, Cohen Wilding, Jaxon Barrett, Sawyer Mayberry Paityn Hunter, Bennet Scott and Lydia Steiner.

Utah PTA Region 10 Reflection Winners 2018

The Utah PTA Region 10 announced their Reflection winners that will advance to the state level. Annually, thousands of students will reflect on a common theme and create original works of art in the categories of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, 3-Dimensional Art, and Visual Arts. The program welcomes, free of charge, all students from all grades and abilities to explore the arts.

Nebo Student, Abby Rowley, Selected Utah Valley Student of the Week for the Daily Herald

Attributions: 

Abigail Rowley is a fifth-grader at Apple Valley Elementary in Nebo School District and is this week’s student of the week for the Daily Herald.

Abby loves to read mysteries — one of her favorites is the Nancy Drew series. She is studying gymnastics and is able to complete a back handspring on the ground. Abby is currently serving as a Student Council member for our school. She shared an experience that is a great example of the type of contribution she makes each day.

Nebo Teacher, Taryn Brown, Selected Utah Valley Educator for Daily Herald

Attributions: 

Taryn Brown, teacher in Nebo School District at Apple Valley, was selected at the Utah Valley Educator of the Week.

Taryn Brown is a fifth-grade teacher at Apple Valley Elementary School in Santaquin. She has been teaching for 10 years. She received her education at Snow College and UVU. Along with teaching, she is also a mentor teacher to new teachers, the school community council facilitator, and teaches English to children in China.
