Spanish Oaks Delights Nebo School Board - Answer to Where Are We Wednesday

Principal Kali Brown of Spanish Oaks Elementary presented to the Nebo Board of Education for October’s Board Meeting. She talked about the excellent students that attend Spanish Oaks and all that they do to make the school a wonderful place.

First the student council presented. They spoke about Nebo School District’s theme of “Be a Nebo Hero” and said, “we are working each day to be someone’s hero.”

Nebo Education Foundation Paper & Pan Sale November 14 - 16, 2017

The Nebo Education Foundation has partnered with multiple companies to bring you the best prices on paper and pans. The sale will be Tuesday, November 14 through Thursday, November 16, from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Summit Center (165 South 700 East, Springville). The sale is a “must go” for educators wanting to take advantage of deep discounts. Goods will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.

Grants Awarded in October 2017 by the Nebo Education Foundation - Answer to Wednesday Challenge

The Nebo Education Foundation is composed of 20 volunteer board members who live in cities serviced by Nebo School District. Each month, the foundation meets to discuss grant requests and other ways to raise money for the continual improvement of Nebo School District. For the month of October, there were many teachers who submitted requests for grant money to better their classrooms and/or school as a whole. Congratulations to the following teachers who received grants from the Nebo Education Foundation!

Nebo School District Appointed Lindsey Hughes as Principal of Park Elementary

With the appointment of Ryan Kay, the Nebo School Board of Education appointed Lindsey Hughes as the principal of Park Elementary for Nebo School District.

Mrs. Hughes is a Title I Coordinator at Barnett Elementary and was a facilitator at Spring Lake Elementary. She taught sixth and fifth grades at East Meadows for eight years.

Mrs. Hughes graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University and Master’s of Education with an Administrative License from Southern Utah University.

Nebo School District Appoints Ryan Kay as Human Resource Coordinator

With the retirement of Dwight Liddiard, the Nebo School Board of Education appointed Ryan Kay as the Human Resource Coordinator for Nebo School District.

Mr. Kay has been the principal for Park Elementary for the past four years. Ryan taught kindergarten at Brockbank and Mapleton Elementary Schools in Nebo School District and at Foothills Elementary in Jordan School District. He has worked in education for 15 years.

Nebo School District Seeks Public Input on Survey

Nebo School District is in the initial planning process for a Bond Election to be held next year on November 6, 2018. Bonding is the primary method school districts use to construct new schools and meet other facility priorities. Bond money cannot be used for salaries and benefits.

Based on previous community feedback of wanting to move to the middle school model, Nebo School District plans to ask patrons to approve a $298 million dollar bond in November 2018. This tax-rate-neutral (no tax rate increase) bond will be used for:

Nebo Mentors and Instructional Coaches - Answer to Wednesday Challenge

Attributions: 

All new Nebo mentors and instructional coaches for literacy, digital literacy, fine arts, and math spent a day going through the coaching cycle in real time. This helps new coaches to understand their position of support to help all teachers reflect on their practice.

On Wednesday, October 4 Nebo’s training happened to be at Springville Junior High School (SJHS) where they had invited some special guests to pose with students to take Nebo Hero photos during lunch. Thanks SJHS for hosting and entertaining!!
