Springville’s Girls’ Soccer team has received another generous donation from Farmers Insurance of $500 through the Nebo Education Foundation. This is becoming an annual donation for the girls. Other donors to the SHS Girls’ Soccer are Physical Sports Therapy, Strong and Strong, Pacific Horizon, the Swanson family, Wells Fargo Bank, and Rich & Kim Davis totaling $1,030.
This year, three members from the Salem Hills High School and two members from the Springville High School chapters of FBLA qualified to compete at the 2010 FBLA National Leadership Conference which was held July 14-17 in Nashville, TN.
Justin Smith (SHHS) competed in Personal Finance, Trisha Christensen (SHHS) competed in Accounting I, Zack Beck (SHHS) competed in Job Interview, Chelsie Murdock (SHS) competed in Business Procedures, and Jerich McAfee (SHS) competed in Business Communications.
Mrs. Lori Nielsen was appointed by the Nebo School Board of Education as the principal of Art City Elementary in Springville for Nebo School District filling the vacancy left by Dave Rowe with his new appointment to Hobble Creek Elementary.
Nebo School District held their Finals District Junior High Weight Lifting Competition this past week. The competition included junior high students in the seventh through ninth grades and was held at Mt. Nebo Junior High School (MNJHS) in Payson.
Sandra Bachler, secretary at Sage Creek Elementary, is retiring from Nebo School District after 25 years.
Sandra responded, “Kindness begins with me.”
Sandra enjoys family and quilting. She is married to William. They reside in Springville and have nine children.

Twenty years ago was the last time a high school in Nebo School District received the Deseret News All-Sports award; it was awarded to Springville High. In 2010, Springville High is again bestowed the honor.
KSL Radio and Zions Bank honored Vicki Gardner, World Civilization and Geography teacher at Diamond Fork Junior High in Spanish Fork, for the "Teacher Feature" program this past week. This program was developed to recognize outstanding teachers who have gone the extra mile, not only in the classroom, but who have also made a significant impact on many young lives.
