Suzanne Kimball Selected Utah Middle School Principal of the Year

The Utah Association of Secondary School Principals (UASSP) selected Nebo School District’s Mapleton Junior High Principal, Suzanne Kimball, as Utah Middle School Principal of the Year.

Mrs. Kimball began her education career as an English teacher at Springville Middle School in 1992 where she later became the assistant principal and then principal. Mrs. Kimball opened the new Mapleton Junior High School that has over 1,200 students. She is currently assigned to Salem Junior High, which is under construction.

Mt. Loafer’s sixth-grade teacher in Nebo School District, Don Applegate, is being honored by the Artistic Resource for Teachers and Students (A.R.T.S.), Inc. He earned this prestigious award by going the extra mile to incorporate the fine arts into the classroom and school.

One person can make a difference in the lives of our children! Each year Artistic Resource for Teachers and Students A.R.T.S., Inc. conducts an extensive search for outstanding Arts-In-Education educators from each of the forty-one school districts throughout the State of Utah.

Flu shot, kindergarten and seventh grade immunizations given in schools

Are your students school immunizations up-to-date?  The Utah County Health Department (UCHD) will be coming to schools in Nebo School District to provide immunizations for kindergarten and seventh grade. And it isn't too late for flu shots, which will also be provided.  Immunizations will be given to individuals ages four and up, and include influenza, DTap/Tdap, HepA, HepB, polio, varicella, meningoccocal, MMR, and HPV.

Park Students Becoming Leaders for Life

Principal Rob Keddington addressed the Nebo School Board on Wednesday, January 11.  Mr. Keddington said, “Wonderful things are happening at Park Elementary.”

One of the successful programs Park has implemented this year is the Leader in Me Program designed by Franklin Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. This past summer the Park staff was trained so they could then teach the students the habits.

Nebo's Fourth-Grade Students Enjoy Utah Symphony

Nebo School District’s fourth-grade students were honored to experience the Utah Symphony that was held on Monday, December 19. Salem Hills High School (SHHS) hosted the musical event where SHHS student body officers enthusiastically welcomed the fourth-graders to their school to enjoy the Utah Symphony.

Angela Killian – Mt. Loafer Elementary Principal

The Nebo School Board of Education appointed Angela Killian as Principal of Mt. Loafer Elementary for Nebo School District.

Mrs. Killian taught first grade at both Barnett Elementary for 6 years and at Mt. Loafer for 13 years. She completed her internships at Maple Mountain High and Mt. Loafer Elementary. Mrs. Killian has served as facilitator at Mt. Loafer for two years.

Mrs. Killian received her Master of Education in Administration from Southern Utah University and her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University.
