One of the many highlights of the Nebo School Board of Education is listening and observing students and programs throughout the school district. Wednesday, junior high representatives met with the School Board for an hour discussing successes in their schools. Each of the representatives also learned best practices from each other to take back to their own schools. The School Board stated that they enjoy listening from students and hearing their perspective of education and their school.

Marilyn Morgan, Payson High School choral teacher, directed the musical group, Trouveres, in two beautiful musical numbers that delighted not only the Nebo School Board of Education but the audience as well.

Lynette DeGraffenried read a letter by the State Office of Education that stated, “We are please to recognize Goshen Elementary as a recipient of the 2012 Utah High-Performing Title I Schools Recognition.” Mrs. DeGraffenried thanked the dedicated service of teachers and administrators and congratulated the students on this prestigious honor. The letter also stated, “We wish you continued success in meeting the educational needs of Utah’s students as they prepare for the future.”

Goshen’s fifth-grade team presented how they integrate the fine arts into the core curriculum. A video clip showed one integration that included Indian pottery and how it relates to academic learning. Goshen’s student council also presented their many service activities such as stacking wood and collecting food as well as their responsibilities of recycling, hall duty, and announcements.

Danny Lundell, Goshen’s School Community Council member, spoke on Goshen’s improvement plans that the council continues to work on each year. He said, “Our school continues to make great progress focusing on language arts and reading as well as technology.”
