Nebo Title VII Indian Education Program will host their annual Open House/Public Hearing at 5:30 p.m. on April 3, 2012, at Sierra Bonita Elementary, 53 South 1800 East in Spanish Fork Utah.

Title VII is a federally funded grant through the Office of Indian Education in Washington, DC. The following is an excerpt from part of the federal regulations for Title VII:  This program provides Indian students with the opportunity to meet the same challenging state standards as all other students and meet the unique educational and culturally-related academic needs of American Indian and Alaska Native students. The amount of the award for each applicant is determined by a formula based on the reported number of American Indian/Alaska Native students identified in the application and the state per pupil expenditure.

This event will lend the opportunity for our American Indian/Alaskan Native parents and students to become educated about the Title VII programs, services and activities, as well as providing input for suggestions and improvements. Current services and programs provided include, but are not limited to, tutorial services to students at risk; reading and storytelling clubs; and writing, reading, and math workshops. The program is required by federal mandate to have a parent committee that works in conjunction with Nebo District schools to provide input and approve the grant each funding year.
