Utah Highway Patrol Officers Kevin Elmer and Bryce Ivie presented the safety Gold Award to Nebo’s transportation technicians at the Nebo School Board of Education meeting on May 11.

Officer Elmer said, “This is a great opportunity to acknowledge excellence to a group that maintains and keeps the buses safe in Nebo. We inspect every bus in Utah and Wasatch Counties as well as some to the south of us. It is always a pleasure to inspect Nebo’s buses. Martin and his crew do an excellent job on a day-to-day basis.”

This annual award is given to the best maintained vehicles in the state. The buses have to have less than 1 percent of problems. Nebo District has approximately 170 buses that travel over 15,000 miles a day in regular bus routes, which does not include field trips and other travel. Most of the departments that have previously received this award have one or two buses traveling per day.

Lynn Mecham, Transportation Supervisor, said, “Our technicians’ safety is impeccable. Nebo’s technicians are always professional and safety comes first.”

Congratulations to Martin Tanner, shop foreman;  Val Abbott; Cliff Jex; Dennis Long; Jim May; Joe Nielson; Daniel Roach; and Chris Wright
