Kristen Betts, a newly elected board member on the Nebo School Board of Education, won her seat in the Mapleton area that includes portions of Springville, Covered Bridge, and Spanish Fork. Kristen fills Collin Allan’s seat. Collin did not run again after serving for 30 years on the Nebo School Board of Education.

Mrs. Betts is a former teacher of Advanced Placement (AP) US History and AP Psychology. She is currently an academic advisor at Brigham Young University.

When asked about her feelings, Kristen said, "I am a product of Nebo School District. I was influenced by many great teachers who had the highest expectations of me and then helped me reach those expectations. Many of my former high school teachers took a personal interest in my future, encouraging me to pursue a career in education. For their time and effort, I am grateful. I am also in gratitude of former school board member; specifically, Collin Allan who spent decades ensuring that each child in Nebo received the best education possible."

Mrs. Betts is a person of service. She has been involved as a County Delegate, Mapleton City Recreation coach and commissioner, PTA President at Hobble Creek and Mapleton Junior, as well as a School Community Council member at Canyon Elementary. Mrs. Betts was the Booster Club President at Maple Mountain High School, a member of Nebo School District’s Healthy Lifestyle committee, and a team manager for multiple competitive athletic teams. She enjoys church service with the youth and women groups.

Kristen enjoys reading, jogging, skiing, and watching her children do ANYTHING. She is married to Stacy Betts, and they have three children Kara, Stephanie, and Marissa.
