Nebo Hosts Youth Summer STEM Camp

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

Nebo School District hosted a STEM Summer Camp during the month of June for sixth- and seventh-grade students. It took less than 24 hours to fill the 64 spots available. The camp inspired interest for students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The classes were held at the Peak Center that houses the Advanced Learning Center.

During the four weeks, the students engaged in a variety of fun projects including Aviation and Drones, 3D Laser Printing, Coding with Robots, and Crazy Science with Physics taught by Mr. Ed Helmick, Mr. LeCheminant, Ms. Stanley, and Mr. Charles Hanosek. In addition to all the hands-on projects, the students were excited to see the Universal helicopter landing in the school’s parking lot orchestrated by instructor Ed Helmick.

These sixth- and seventh-graders enjoyed this amazing opportunity during first part of their summer learning about many subjects that will definitely impact their future aspirations. Thank you, JoAnn Tuttle, for writing the grant to bring the STEM Summer Camp to our community, and thank you Brenda Betteridge for all your help.
