Nebo School District and Schools Honor Local Businesses

Friday, October 5, 2018, the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce honored businesses for their valuable partnerships with education.

Superintendent Rick Nielsen of Nebo School District said, “We are so grateful for our many business partners in Nebo School District. There are so many ways to support school children, and we appreciate all contributions made by our wonderful partners.

Superintendent Rick Nielsen honored Doug and Carol Ford of Mountain Country Foods as Nebo School District’s 2018 Business Champion.

"The Ford family made a large contribution to the safety of schools," said Lana Hiskey, Nebo Education Foundation Executive Director.  “The entire Ford family gives of their time, talents and treasure. Carol Ford has actually served as a volunteer in local schools for 34 years."

Principals in Nebo School District honored one of their school’s business partners during an award ceremony.

Apple Valley Elementary, Principal Chad Argyle honored Kepi Heimuli with Boy Scouts of America.
“Boy Scouts of America have donated well over 1,000 hours of leadership and service during the entire summer to help prepare Apple Valley to open. They have worked in many areas from unloading semi-trucks of products to assembling desks and chairs, to setting up all of our commuter systems. They have organized, labeled, and created a data base for thousands of reading books.”

Art City Elementary, Principal Lisa Muirbrook honored John & Jordan Seely with Forge Pizza Truck.
“Forge Pizza Truck helps with food for our students.”

Barnett Elementary, Principal Angela Stoddard honored Ricardo Gomez with Street Tacos Tarricaso.
“Ricardo’s family attends Barnett Elementary and he is always willing to help us with any event or activity we have going on at the school. He supports our school by treating our teachers to yummy food often and when we have fundraisers he gives a large portion of what he has made on his taco truck that evening to the school and to the Barnett PTA. Ricardo is a humble, giving man and our faculty enjoys when he visits and all that he does for us.”

Brockbank Elementary, Principal Larraine Nelson honored Jill & Justin Stewart and Kenion & Holly Davis with Sipn’ in Spanish Fork.
“Sipn' has been a wonderful sponsor of our school, providing treats, including cookies and drinks, for our school carnivals, fundraisers and for our teachers and students! We appreciate their generous contributions in helping our PTA and our school.”

Brookside Elementary, Principal Dana Beckert honored Ruth Morrison with Funfinity.
“Funfinity donates toys and books to teachers and students.”

Canyon Elementary, Principal Dave Harlan honored Skyler Carr with Infini D Learning.
“INFINI D Learning provides students with the opportunity to creatively apply what they learn in the classroom. Through game-like simulation modules, engaging team missions, and immersive environments, each students’ mastery of classroom instruction is put to the test in a variety of subject areas with innovative technical and social skill training.”

Cherry Creek Elementary, Principal Mike Duncan honored Kellie Gilson with Springville Floral and Gift.
“Kellie Gilson is a huge support to Cherry Creek! On numerous occasions, she has provided flowers for us at the last minute and she always does it with a smile. The entire staff at Springville Floral are incredibly kind and talented and we are lucky to have them as our neighbors!”

East Meadows Elementary, Principal Celeste Gledhill honored Mandalee Shreeve with Utah County 4H Programs.
“Mandalee works with us to allow students to learn by doing. Students get the chance to participate in hands-on experiences in a variety of areas including STEM, cooking, sewing, music, art and leadership.”

Foothills Elementary, Principal Keri Huntsman honored Matt Marziale & Jen Wright with Salem City Recreation.
“The Salem City Recreation department sponsors the Salem Pond Town Track Meets each year for all the elementary 3rd-6th grade students in Salem. Last year with the help of Foothills PTA, they also planned some fun Red Ribbon Week activities, including a Minute to Win It assembly. Matt Marziale, Salem City Recreation Director, and Jen Wright, Salem City Recreation Manager, have children at our school and offer their support and help as parents too.”

Goshen Elementary, Principal Lynette DeGraffenried honored Dave Smith with the Community Action Services Food Bank.
“Community Action Services Food Bank provided food bags for our students in need.”

Hobble Creek Elementary, Principal Mike Johnson honored Kate & Paul Allen with Rustica Hardware.
“Mr. and Mrs. Allen are so generous in donating items for our silent auction each year at our school carnival. These items help raise funds for our PTA to run their programs for the year and to help the students of Hobble Creek. We are so grateful for Paul and Kate's support of our school!”

Larsen Elementary, Principal Cami Thomas honored Holly Frasche with Frenchy’s Desserts.
“Holly not only donates regularly desserts and treats for our school, but she was our past PTA President and also donated a lot of time towards student activities. She also taught a parent class throughout the entire school year, last year, so that parents were able to learn the language of the 7 habits, and reinforce what was happening at school.”

Maple Ridge Elementary, Principal Sara Matis honored Ryan Breneman with Inside Sales.
“Inside Sales is an amazing company that has provided volunteers to teach our upper-grade students coding for the past few years. They have done an amazing job at not only teaching our students coding skills, but also helping students see awesome examples of 21st century jobs and skills in action. Plus, the volunteers are great to work with and excited about empowering and exposing students to new ideas and technology!”

Mapleton Elementary, Principal Julie Peery honored Marcia Green with Warren Orthodontics.
"Warren Orthodontics has been extremely supportive of whatever is happening at Mapleton Elementary, not only donating resources but also time. They provided many services for our school fundraiser and provided treats and food for various meetings for teachers and parents during the year."

Meadow Brook Elementary, Principal Heather Balli honored Dal Haderlie with Smith’s.
“We appreciate their support with our students and school.”

Mt. Loafer Elementary, Principal Sarah Blackhurst honored Becky McGinnis and the McGinnis family.
“The McGinnis family along with Becky McGinnis found a need in our school to provide character education to a select grade level of students. She took the initiative to plan, coordinate and fund such an experience for our students. It was truly one we will forever be thankful for.”

Orchard Hills Elementary, Principal Ryan Murray honored Pastor Lee Ponder & Clyde Bingham with Christian Life Assembly of God Church.
“Over the past couple of years the Christian Life Assembly of God Church has donated several boxes of school supplies to our school. We are so thankful for their kindness.”

Park Elementary, Principal Lindsey Hughes honored Mayor Steve Leifson with Spanish Fork City.
“Steve is always willing to show up at Park when asked. We have quite a few celebrations and I love that I can count on our Mayor to join us. He is a constant figure in our school and I appreciate that our students have such a great role model to look up to. Steve is WONDERFUL and we love being able to call him one of our own!”

Park View Elementary, Principal Shanna Walker honored Sarah Leavitt with Payson City.
“Sarah worked with Payson City to organize a 1 mile/5K challenge race for Payson area elementary schools to participate in with their families. Each year she found donors to contribute hundreds of dollars of playground equipment to be given to those schools with the highest percentage of participants. She found ways to provide students with exciting assemblies that promoted Healthy Lifestyles.”

Rees Elementary, Principal Adam Gull honored Mary Ann Eyres with Nebo Credit Union.
“Mary Ann is an amazing supporter of Nebo Schools, especially Rees Elementary. Mary Ann and Nebo Credit Union supports Rees students by donating shoes, boots, and coats. They also donate money to teachers for books. Mary Ann has participated as a community leader for our annual Dr. Seuss day by reading fun books to students. She is even known for dressing up and really getting into the spirit of the day. We love Mary Ann and Nebo Credit Union!”

Riverview Elementary, Principal Angela Killian honored Dr. Richard & Allison Atwood with South Valley Dental.
“Richard and Allison Atwood have made a positive impact on the education of Riverview students. They have donated bikes to our PTA carnival every year, made financial donations that benefit several classrooms, and continue to be valued partners to Riverview Elementary.”

Sage Creek Elementary, Principal Alison Hanson honored Inside Sales.
“Inside Sales is an amazing company that has provided volunteers to teach our upper grade students coding for the past few years. They have done an amazing job at not only teaching our students coding skills, but also helping students see awesome examples of 21st century jobs and skills in action. Plus, the volunteers are great to work with and excited about empowering and exposing students to new ideas and technology!”

Salem Elementary, Principal Coral Lee Findlay honored Kurt & Janie Christensen with Salem Chevron.
“Kurt & Janie Christensen have supported Salem Elementary through the years by participating in the annual fall carnivals, contributing to various fundraisers, and providing multiple opportunities for student learning and growth. They know the impact that community involvement can have in supporting and influencing the lives of students.”

Santaquin Elementary, Principal Len Richins honored Aimee Nelson with American First Credit Union.
“Thank you, American First Credit Union, for donating shoes to needy students in our community around Christmas time for the past several years. Receiving new shoes always brightens your day and because of your willingness to give, we can brighten the day of many students on a yearly basis!”

Sierra Bonita Elementary Principal Garrett Anderson honored Glen Bradford with American Legion in Spanish Fork.
“Glen Bradford is a member of our committee that has helped put together the Freedom Walk we do each May with all of the 5th graders in Spanish Fork and Salem. They have provided a tangible opportunity for students to interact with Veterans and learn from them personally. They also have helped to strengthen and develop a love of country, flag and freedom. They are a very valuable asset to our schools and community.”

Spanish Oaks Elementary, Principal Kali Brown honored Dale Phelps with Nebo Credit Union.
“Dale is a champion for Spanish Oaks! He drops in regularly to make sure our needs are taken care of. He is willing to help with anything at the school, e.g., teachers, students, parents, etc. We are so appreciative of Dale's continued support for our Spanish Oaks community!”

Spring Lake Elementary, Principal Teresa Jordan honored Mark Holdaway with SESD South Valley Electric Service District.
“SESD has been a wonderful partner with our Spring Lake Elementary PTA this past year, donating $1,000 to help fund the cost of a new marquee for our school. We appreciate the service their company provides to our patrons and their willingness to partner with us to benefit children and families in south Utah County.”

Taylor Elementary, Principal Billi Robbins honored Elizabeth Casillas with Rocky Mountain ATV.
“Rocky Mountain ATV graciously donated many school supplies and backpacks to Taylor Elementary School. We have enjoyed the excitement on the students' faces as we have handed out the backpacks full of supplies to the needy student.”

Westside Elementary, Principal Lori Pruitt honored Dustin Lane with American Family Insurance.

Wilson Elementary, Principal Shawn Rawlings honored Elizabeth Casillas with Rocky Mountain ATV.
“Elizabeth is awesome to work with and looks for the needs of our school.”

Diamond Fork Junior, Principal Brenda Burr honored Gloria Skanchy with the AmeriCorps Program.
“Gloria is awesome to work with in the AmeriCorps program. Always positive, innovative, and flexible, Gloria helps us recruit and train volunteers that serve our at-risk student population at Diamond Fork. Last year, our data showed an increase in attendance and overall grade point average for these students. We only had fifteen" F" grades at the end of the year for our entire school population. Not one of our 9th graders had failing grades and we did not have any 9th graders enter high school with credit deficiencies.”

Mapleton Junior, Principal Nate Whitney honored Steven & Carlene Leavitt with Pizza Factory.
“The Pizza Factory provided complimentary or very low cost food for our school on several separate occasions. Some of these occasions include the Jr. High Basketball tournament meals for refs and coaches in the green room, Pizzas for our faculty's social lunch, and pizzas for student council activities and more. They have been so willing to be generous any time we have approached them. Thank you Pizza Factory!”

Mt. Nebo Junior, Principal Troy Peterson honored Ricardo Gomez with Street Tacos Tarricaso.
“We appreciate all their donations for our students, teachers, and staff. Thank you.”

Payson Junior, Principal Jesse Sorensen honored Brian Rowley with Apple Valley Vision.
“Brian has served the Payson and Santaquin area as an Optimologist for several years. He has been very involved as a member of the Nebo Foundation and has worked to be an advocate for Payson and Santaquin schools. Over the past several years he has hosted a basketball tournament during Labor Day to raise scholarship money for Payson High Students.”

Salem Junior, Principal David Knudsen honored James Thomas with Thomas Orthodontics.
“Thomas Orthodontics donated materials and gifts for fundraiser.”

Spanish Fork Junior, Principal Matt Christensen honored Jeff Kuhni with John Kuhni and Sons.
“Jeff has donated $4,000 to our school over the past two years. He has asked that we use that money to help students that are in need. We have been able to help numerous students with Christmas gifts, shoes, food, and lunch money.”

Springville Junior, Principal Ryan McGuire honored Jason Packard with Central Bank of Springville.
“Central Bank of Springville has been a wonderful partner helping the school. This year Jason is working on a new customer service program that also has been implemented at Springville Junior High. Jason has been willing to share ideas and resources to help our students also find ways to strengthen our student community by implementing some of the same ideas and programs.”

Maple Mountain High, Principal DeAnn Nielsen honored Brian Wall with Digital Printing Solutions.
“Brian Wall of Digital Printing Solutions has been a huge supporter of Maple Mountain High School. He has donated his time, materials and products on countless occasions. Brian has made hundreds of amazingly awesome individual athlete, cheer and drill wall banners. These banners are treasured by our students. Payson High, Principal RaShel Shepherd honored Rory Adams with Farmers Insurance.
“Rory is a loyal supporter of Payson High School athletics. He has made generous donations to our football, basketball, and baseball programs. Last year he created a touchdown challenge where he presented our team a check for the number of touchdowns our team made. It was awesome!”

Salem Hills High, Principal Bart Peery honored Coleen Frazier with Stokes Grocery.

Advanced Learning Center, Principal Ben Ford honored Bryan Kessinger with the Department of Workforce Services.
“Bryan Kessinger is a valuable asset to our students using his position at DWS to help coordinate professional experiences for the students at the ALC. He does an excellent job of pairing our programs with companies that need projects completed which gives our students the opportunity to create real projects, plus it gives them exposure working in profession settings.”
