Diamond Fork Junior High Choir - Answer to Wednesday's Challenge

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

Diamond Fork Junior High has two large choirs, a beginning and advanced group. The choir program has been steadily building the past couple of years under the direction of Maria Lewis. Descant, the beginning mixed chorus, currently has 43 students. Momentum is the concert choir and top group with 56 students.

This year, the school-wide theme song is "Hall of Fame" by the Shifts. The students wanted to learn the song and be able to sing it for the entire student body.

“When no choral sheet music could be found. Jacob Chesney told his grandmother about it. Joy Peck, a choir teacher herself, arranged a special version of "Hall of Fame" for her grandson's choir,” said Mrs. Lewis. “The students were thrilled to perform it this week at the red ribbon week assembly with Jacob Chesney and Sierra Wills as soloists.”

Principal Brenda Burr said, “What I love most about the Diamond Fork Choir is how much the students love being in choir! Listening to the DFJHS Choir sing is a delight because you can feel the joy the students and their director, Maria Lewis, bring to the music. The students and director conspired together to surprise the school by finding the music to and learning our school’s theme song for this year, "Hall of Fame," which was a Hall of Fame moment for all of them.

Congratulations to Gabriel Chapman for winning this week’s “Where are we Wednesday?” challenge sponsored by Wiggy Wash.
