September 2016 Nebo PEAK Award Winners:

THE PEAK AWARD CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM
Nebo School District wants to showcase our Positive Energy and Kind employees. PEAK Awards are nominated by patrons and recognized by the Superintendent Staff and Nebo School Board of Education. The award is administered by the Communications and Community Relations Department.

Bobette Bridenbaugh, Special Education Teacher, Payson Junior
Nominated by: Carlos Hernande & Alesha LeMmon
“Bobette is a wonderful example of an enthusiastic educator. She loves her students and it shows through the time and energy she devotes to her craft.  Every lesson she teaches and activity she facilitates is well thought out to meet the needs of her very special students. Her enthusiasm shines forth in her face and the faces of so many that have had the opportunity to have her teach them. Bobette not only teaches academics, she teaches life skills that her students need to succeed. Examples of this are the school store she runs with her students and the luncheons she organizes where faculty, staff and her students sit down together for a meal. Bobette meets with parents regularly and genuinely listens to concerns and answers questions. While Bobette has tremendous educational skills, she recognizes that parents have valuable insights.  She provides positive energy and kindness to all with which she works. Bobette is patient, understanding, and flexible, all good qualities to have in a junior high school. We are fortunate to have her at Payson Junior!”

“Mrs. Bridenbaugh helped me to put together a cartoon I had been working on for quite a while. She photographed everyone of my drawings and edited them into a short film. She helped me finish my project even after I had moved on to the high school. She even met me at the city library during the summer to help get it done. She spent hours of her own time putting the film together. Mrs. Bridenbaugh helps out other students as well. When the sister of one of my friends died, she was supportive of my friend and made sure to attend the funeral. She is a very kind and unselfish teacher. She really cares about her students.”

Brenda Johnson, Secretary, Brockbank Elementary
Nominated by: Frances Dyches & Larraine Nelson
“Brenda is awesome! Students love her. She is always so cute with them. She is a jolly, happy, positive person. Our community relies on her to always take care of their kids because they know their kids love Brenda!  She knows most of the students by name and knows their families as well.  I love that she is great with numbers and she is so helpful. She does whatever is asked of her and takes on jobs that I don't ask her to do!  She also is great to double check and make calls when she is not quite sure of a procedure because she wants to learn and do the right thing.”

“Brenda Johnson never tells anyone "NO". If she can do it she will, or she will find someone who can. She has worked at Brockbank for the past 14 years. For the past year, she has worked full time in the office while our head secretary was out sick. She always has a smile on her face and greets everyone with that smile. All the students like to go in the office to visit Brenda and she has a smile on her face for them also. She has an excellent memory and remembers students names even past students. Brenda is a model employee because of her work standards. She very dedicated to Brockbank Elementary.”

Ryan Kunzler, Teacher, Spanish Fork High
Nominated by: Jennifer Sorensen
“Mr. Kunzler has been a teacher to two of my children. He has gone above and beyond the expectations of being an exceptional teacher. He has taken a personal interest and knows them individually. He knows their interests and uses that to help motivate them to reach their highest potential. Students can confide in him and trust and value his advice and opinions. Other parents feel the same. That is a great teacher. He is one who truly loves his job and his students. He exhibits a strong positive attitude and has shown more kindness than I would expect. As a parent, it is nice to know that people are looking out for my children. Knowing that they are being taught by such a great person, has meant the world to me. I have pride in a district that holds their teachers to such high standards in excellence in teaching.”

Lorie Reese, Speech, Hobble Creek Elementary
Nominated by: Michael Johnson & Tina Wilkinson
“If you were to look up the words, loyal, hardworking, kind, and talented you would see Lorie Reese's picture. Lorie truly exemplifies what an excellent employee is and should be. She brings a positive light to everyone and everywhere. Lorie can be seen mentoring multiple speech technicians, working with children, calming fears of concerned parents, and lightening the load of others she comes in contact with on a daily basis. Lorie has truly won the hearts of parents, students, and staff that associate with her. You only need to mention her name to anyone that knows her, and they will agree that she is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet.”

Lindsey Gerhauser, Teacher, Springville Junior
Nominated by: Shauna Shepherd
“Lindsey helps oversee our intramural program after school so that kids have a safe place to go and be active with friends. She is model example of kindness to our kids. She never belittles them or makes them feel in any way inferior as they try new activities. Lindsey also performed the most selfless act as our faculty and staff donated money to help a family in our area with Christmas. Lindsey donated a substantial amount, one that made me cry as I saw how much she gave to help out a family in need. She didn't ask questions, just realized there was a need and did her best to help fulfill that need.”

JoAnn Tuttle, CTE Coordinator, District
Nominated by: J. Merrill Halam, Roxann Hoffman, Shaun Black, Monica Giffing, Nyle Russell, Howard Houston, Kaylee Liddiard, Jared Masick, & Robyn Dunn
“JoAnn is the most dynamic, dedicated visionary that we know and in that venue has done more to promote student success across all CTE playing fields bar none. JoAnn continues to color outside the lines of what would be considered an acceptable performance as an administrator and in doing so has placed her brand of enthusiasm, commitment, performance, and distinction on everything she employs. Her relentless efforts insure that every student under her watch has numerous opportunities to excel in their own field of expertise. Her performance is unrivaled!”

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This initiative is designed to focus on "raising the bar" on providing exceptional customer service, both internally and externally. A key component of this initiative is the development of the PEAK Award. The PEAK (Positive Energy and Kindness) Award is presented monthly to someone in the Nebo School District who "really gets it" when it comes to providing exceptional customer service, which in turn results in positive impacts on everyone including students, parents, co-workers and members of the community.

Who Gets Nominated?
Faculty and staff members are nominated by anyone in the community through the Nebo School District website, www.nebo.edu/PEAK wherein a special Customer Service link is provided. The directions as to how to nominate an employee for the PEAK Awards are clearly spelled out on the site. All nominations must include information on how the individual has provided exceptional customer service, as well as how the employee's actions impacted the nominator's overall perception of Nebo School District Schools. The name and contact information of the nominator must be included.
