THE PEAK AWARD CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM
Nebo School District wants to showcase our Positive Energy and Kind employees. PEAK Awards are nominated by patrons and recognized by the Superintendent Staff and Nebo School Board of Education. The award is administered by the Communications and Community Relations Department.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This initiative is designed to focus on "raising the bar" on providing exceptional customer service, both internally and externally. A key component of this initiative is the development of the PEAK Award. The PEAK (Positive Energy and Kindness) Award is presented monthly to someone in the Nebo School District who "really gets it" when it comes to providing exceptional customer service, which in turn results in positive impacts on everyone including students, parents, co-workers and members of the community.

Who Gets Nominated?
Faculty and staff members are nominated by anyone in the community through the Nebo School District website, www.nebo.edu/PEAK wherein a special Customer Service link is provided. The directions as to how to nominate an employee for the PEAK Awards are clearly spelled out on the site. All nominations must include information on how the individual has provided exceptional customer service, as well as how the employee's actions impacted the nominator's overall perception of Nebo School District Schools. The name and contact information of the nominator must be included.

January 2016 PEAK Award Winners:

Jethro Gillespie, Art Teacher, Maple Mountain High
Nominated by: Jeanmarie Andersen
“Jethro is an amazing teacher and cares deeply about each individual student that comes through his class. He uses his amazing expertise to not only teach but to inspire students. His positive attitude and love for the arts is incredible. He has a wonderful way of motivating the students to reach higher levels, not only in his field, but in all aspects of school. Mr. Gillespie motivates students to be good, caring individuals. He encourages them to be productive citizens in society and aware of others’ needs. Jethro has great rapport with the community and his caring goes beyond the students’ high school years. Nebo School District is truly fortunate to have such a teacher in their schools!”

David Swenson, Custodian, Maple Ridge Elementary
Nominated by: Sara Matis
“David Swenson keeps buildings looking new for years! His attention to detail and pride in his work provides an awesome environment for students to learn and teachers to teach. We definitely notice a difference when Mr. Swenson is not in the building. David's desire to ensure that students and staff enjoy a clean and welcoming environment is shared by all of his staff members. He certainly values and demonstrates the importance of caring for our buildings and ensuring safety and comfort for learning.”

Lyndsee Brice, Teacher, Cherry Creek Elementary
Nominated by: Mike Duncan & Rachel Gardner
“It's very simple--Lyndsee Brice is ‘Highly Effective’. Lyndsee is a master teacher that has greatly impacted Cherry Creek Elementary. She is a driven, goal-oriented individual that will not stop until she accomplishes those goals. Lyndsee is always helping others improve and gives much of her own time to benefit the school in general. She has been instrumental in developing The Leader In Me program at Cherry Creek. Lyndsee is also over public relations and spends large chunks of time getting stories on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the school's website. Miss Brice is loved by her students, parents and colleagues. Lyndsee is most definitely a PEAK performer!”

"When my son was sick, she personally contacted me to ask about him. I can tell she loves her job, and she loves the students."

Jana Russell, Special Education, District-Wide
Nominated by: Michele Thompson & Neeley Kay
“Jana is asked to work in many challenging situations each day. She goes above and beyond to provide exceptional support to those she works with. Her daily positive attitude and outlook improves the lives of those she comes in contact. She teaches basic skills so students can succeed and feel good about themselves. Jana is professional in all situations. Any team Jana works with is left with a feeling of support and added confidence that they can manage challenging behaviors. Students look forward to her visits and respond positively to her interactions. Jana is an example of a PEAK Performer!”

Kandie Jensen, Finance, Nebo School District
Nominated by: Ryan Kay
“Kandie is always willing to help out with budgets and questions. Questions such as: ‘Can I pay for that out of this account?’ ‘Help, I paid tax on that and don't know how to get it back.’ ‘What does drill down mean; and exactly, how do I this with my budget?’ Those are just a small sampling of what Kandie does on a daily basis. When you take into consideration that she does this for ALL of our schools and administrators, you can begin to appreciate the scope of her job. Every interaction I have ever had with Kandie has been very positive and friendly. I really appreciate her watchful eye and professional support in keeping me out of trouble with my budgets. You truly are a treasure to our district!”

Dave Harlan, Principal, Canyon Elementary
Nominated by: Amy Darrington
“I had experienced a horrible week. The breaking point was learning that my new little puppy had been hit by a car and killed. Dave walked into my office and showed kindness and compassion at a moment that I really needed it. I'm sure he had a million other things to do and listening to my emotional breakdown was probably not at the top of his list. Dave always puts people first and cares a great deal about his staff, students and parents. It’s great to know that people like Dave are leading our students and representing Nebo with such kindness.”
