Bob Backman
Bob Backman was raised in Santaquin and graduated from Payson High School in 1955 and graduated from BYU in 1960. He also served in the U.S. Army. Bob received his master’s degree from University of Arizona in 1968. Mr. Backman began teaching at the “new” Spanish Fork high in 1962. He taught mathematics at SFHS until 1989 where he coached baseball, football, basketball, tennis and golf. Mr. Backman served as assistant principal until he retired in 1998. Bob married Jane J. Lindley in 1967. They have three children, ten grandchildren and soon to be eight great-grandchildren. 

Joe Alan Worthen
In 1961, Joe graduated from Utah State with a degree in Physical Education (PE) and Mathematics. Joe taught math, coached all sports and drove the bus for Escalante High School. In 1963, he accepted a teaching position at Payson High School where he taught PE and Math for 21 years.  In 1980, he became the Community School/City Recreation Director for Payson City.  After 37 years with Nebo School District, Joe retired.  Joe served 25 years on the fire department and 45 years as a basketball official!  He has served in many church callings.  His family says that he is quite the “Master Fisherman”. Joe married Deanna Griever 56 years ago. Together they have four children, fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
