Some of Nebo's Career, Technology, and Educational Programs Highlighted

Submitted by ts on

Numerous CTE programs had the opportunity to share highlights of their efforts this past year to the Nebo Board of Education and staff last Wednesday and present board members with some of the artifacts of their work.

The theme of the presentation was “Journey of Excellence” and followed the popular Utah slogan “Utah's Own”.

All six high schools including the Welding and Agriculture departments gave presentations to the board. There were a total of 26 presenters and 11 programs were highlighted during the event. Each program gave a quick power-point highlight of several projects they were working on or had completed along with success stories that came out of the process. Some topics included livestock champions, farmers market sales, Skills USA competition, fabricated project designs, festival of trees donations, student led facilities construction, cooperative business partnerships, turkey production and processing, national convention success, community service and leadership and career opportunities.

Each student addressed three areas of the education process. What did I learn from the course, how can I apply the skills and what recognition has I or my school received for our efforts.

The total program lasted only 25 minutes and was very fast paced. At the conclusion students presented board members and staff a total of 60 artifacts that were produced by Nebo students.(Nebo's Own). The artifacts included baked zucchini bread, flower arrangements; plasma cut Christmas scenes, poinsettias and a turkey. All artifacts were produced by Nebo students as extension and application projects related to their individual course work. It was a “Nebo's Own” event that gave students and advisors opportunities to showcase the important work they are doing in their classrooms and extensions beyond.
