October 2014 PEAK Award Winners:

Winner: Debbie Dockstader, Secretary, Spring Lake Elementary
Nominated by: Marty Davis
“Our school has such a great feeling tone, and it starts when parents and students walk into the office and meet Debbie. She is always smiling and makes everyone feel at ease. Debbie knows all the students and parents and is patient with the teachers and makes sure the purchase orders and finances are perfect. Debbie makes every person in our school feel special. Hopefully the secretaries at other schools express the same caring and efficiency that Debbie displays. Even with all she has been through with her health, she is still a fantastic secretary.”

Winner: Dana Beckert, Facilitator, Sierra Bonita Elementary
Nominated by: Stephanie Galt
“Dana truly goes above and beyond to support not only interns and new teachers, but the entire faculty and staff at Sierra Bonita. She is continually working with teachers to improve their skill and craft of teaching. Dana not only supports teachers, but she organizes and manages the tier two interventions and trains, supports and assists all technicians. On top of all of this, Dana pulls students out one-on-one for individualized reading instruction. Oh, and did I mention Dana also presents monthly professional development for the entire staff? Dana shows everyone she comes in contact with what it means to truly be fully immersed in your job. She makes sure those visiting Sierra Bonita see and feel the great things happening at the school.”

Winner: Patricia Sanborn, Dispatch, Transportation
Nominated by: Jamie Christensen, Gwen Byers, Carol Tanner & Kim Adams
“Patricia has a stressful job which starts at 5:00 a.m. each day. She takes phone calls and texts at home the night before. Patricia is our dispatch and responsible to find subs for our drivers and attendants often with little notice. Transportation has 191 regular route drivers and attendants. Patricia is knowledgeable about all the routes and has to be creative about solutions to make sure all the routes are covered. No matter how stressful the day or situation, Patricia always has a smile, compassion, and empathy for the person's needs. She will also drive the route herself when needed.Patricia represents both the Transportation Department and Nebo School District as a shining example of Great Customer Service.”

Winner: Ryan Pitcher, Principal, Rees Elementary
Nominated by: Tammy Strunk
“Ryan is an amazing administrator. He not only takes care of his faculty and staff, but everyone is made to feel important. Ryan takes time out of his busy schedule to visit with all of us, often. He helps parents realize that every child is important to him. He knows the names and details of students. Ryan is one that really exemplifies the motto: putting the children first. Here at Rees, we truly do what is best for the students. This is all because of Ryan, the captain of the school. Anyone who walks into this school and meets Ryan Pitcher, knows that good things are happening every day. I love coming to work for a person that values others and the service rendered to the students in Nebo.”

Winner: Caryn Covington, Special Education Teacher, Riverview Elementary
Nominated by: Lisa Muirbrook
“Caryn is an exceptional special education teacher. She is willing and able to offer assistance and intervention strategies for any teacher - whether or not she services the grade or child. Her concern for ALL students at Riverview is apparent. Caryn has developed math benchmarks for all upper grades. She calculates scores, creates graphs for teachers, and provides assistance to help teachers meet the needs of all students. Her primary responsibility is to serve upper grade students, yet she is consistently providing assistance for teachers no matter their assignment. Caryn's attitude and dedication shows that the students in Nebo School District belong to all of us.”

Winner: Coral Lee Findlay, Intern Coach, Foothills Elementary
Nominated by: Patricia Richins
“Coral Lee has the ability to see what needs to be done and jumps in to help with anything without being asked. She is always willing to do anything she is asked and is a positive example to the students, parents, faculty, and staff. With the deadline just minutes away, Coral Lee voluntarily proof-read, made corrections, and helped staple a four-page handout that needed to go out to the sixth-grade children at our school. Coral Lee was a super-hero that day! At our school we have the attitude of helping others when we see a need, even if it isn't our job. The teachers and staff at Foothills are kind and amazing!”
