Mountain View Hospital and the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) at Payson High School and Salem Hills High School have been partners for several years. HOSA students can gain valuable experience in the Healthcare arena.

"Many of our members are considering careers in health care,” said Brian Blake, HOSA Director at Payson High School. "Through touring various facilities, they have directly seen the type work that is out there and conversed with real medical professionals."

HOSA students organize blood drives, perform service opportunities with local nursing homes, compete in state competitions, and volunteer at Mountain View Hospital for different activities. Between Payson High and Salem Hills High, nearly 80 HOSA students participate in the program.

"The students are finding that HOSA helps them to get involved in service and gives them insight to the healthcare field," says Pamela Lyman, HOSA Director at Salem Hills High School. "The relationship with the Hospital is invaluable to our students."

Mountain View Hospital is a strong supporter in the efforts of these students. Mountain View Hospital routinely donates money so these programs can continue. The partnership for the Hospital has been equally valuable. HOSA students will likely be those "up-and-comers" in the medical field.

"We really enjoy having the HOSA students in our hospital to shadow our team members, and to gain experience that will help them get excited about a career in the healthcare field. They have always been great to work with, and we hope that our partnership will continue for a long time to come,” said Kevin Johnson, CEO at Mountain View Hospital.

HOSA students have helped out Mountain View Hospital throughout the year including the hospital's annual Family Health Fair in September, the hospital's annual concert to kick-off Onion Days, and others.

This year, the hospital made a $2,000 donation to the Nebo Education Foundation for the Payson and Salem Hills High School HOSA programs—$ 1,000 to each school.
