Monica Distefano, Counselor Springville Junior -- Answer to Wednesday's Challenge

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

An educator from another district sent in this Nebo Notable about Monica Distefano, a counselor at Springville Junior High. Mrs. Distefano truly makes a difference in other’s lives.

An educator for the past 28 years and from another school district had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Distefano during the summer and said: “Mrs. Distefano is one of the most pleasant people I have ever met.  She is calming, knowledgeable and so very helpful to both students and parents. I have both a son and a niece in the ninth grade at Springville Junior High. For the past three years, these teenagers, as well as their friends, discuss how much they adore Mrs. Distefano. The students always know that they can talk with her and get their problems or issues resolved.  She is so approachable and willing at all times to help, ‘Until we get it right.’  She will work with a student’s class schedule until each is completely satisfied, and she gives valuable information.  Mrs. Distefano never appears ‘put out’ with concerns and always greets everyone with a smile and with a special kind of warmth.

“With her inviting personality, Mrs. Diseafano has made our experience at Springville Junior High much less stressful than it otherwise could be.  I wish she could hear all of the wonderful comments that I, as a parent, hear from both the students and other parents.  She is so sweet and kind and deserves all praise. Nice does matter.  Mrs. Distefano truly is remarkable!”

Thank you, Mrs. Distefano, for treating students and parents kindly and respectfully. You are an example of this year's theme, “Let it Shine!”

www.nebo.edu front Web page received many responses for this week’s “Where are we Wednesday?” Ryan Chambers was the first to respond correctly with the person’s name and the location. Congratulations!
