Making Magic-Defying Gravity Concert

In August, two Nebo School District students, Amy Rachel Paulson and Ahnika Belle White, and teacher, Rock White, took part in a Musical Theatre concert performance in Salt Lake City called "Making Magic-Defying Gravity".

Under the direction of The Educational Theatre Association, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Creative Entertainment, and the WICKED Broadway Touring Company, eight students, through auditions, were cast to perform with Carla Stickler and Michael Mahany, two of “WICKED'S” stars, in a performance celebrating and embracing the significant values and importance of the arts.

Amy Rachel Paulson, a former Mt. Nebo Junior High School student and member of International Thespian Troupe #88809, just graduated from Salem Hills High School and will be attending Southern Utah University this fall. Ahnika Belle White is a freshman at Mt. Nebo Junior High School and a member of International Thespian Troupe #88809.  Mr. Rock H. White teaches Theatre at Mt. Nebo Junior High School in Payson and was selected to be the rehearsal music director for the concert. Mr. White is the state's junior high school representative for The International Thespian Society and also serves on the board for the Utah Advisory Council for Theatre Teachers.

The concert sold out and the students had a wonderful experience! It was quite an honor to receive final direction for the concert from the music director and stage manager of “WICKED”, as well as performing with two seasoned Broadway actors. These concerts are performed around the country, but this is the first one in Utah!
