Science Teacher Selected for National Institute

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

Veteran science teacher, Karen Cloud of Mt. Nebo Junior High, spent over two weeks of this summer in Gaithersberg, Maryland, participating in the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Summer Institute for Middle School Science Teachers.

NIST only selects 20 teachers nationwide to participate in an intense series of lectures, activities, tours, and visits with scientists designed to support middle school science teachers and encourage students to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Mrs. Cloud’s participation with NIST will continue as she participates in regular webinars throughout the school year.

As a dedicated professional and Peak Performer, Mrs. Cloud will actively participate in ongoing professional development through NIST. Nebo School District is thrilled when teachers are recognized for excellence and their focus on academic achievement for students.
