Nebo's Fourth-Grade Students Enjoy Utah Symphony

Nebo School District’s fourth-grade students were honored to experience the Utah Symphony that was held on Monday, December 19. Salem Hills High School (SHHS) hosted the musical event where SHHS student body officers enthusiastically welcomed the fourth-graders to their school to enjoy the Utah Symphony.

Teachers received the core curriculum related materials a few weeks ago, and students have been learning about the symphony for weeks. At the performance, students learned about the instrument families of the orchestra as well as the tonal color and other elements of music. The students and teachers dressed up for this special cultural event and were an excellent audience.

The Utah Symphony, conducted by Vladimir Kulenovic, performed works from Copeland, Tchaikovsky, Rimskey-Korsakov and more. The fourth-grade students across Nebo School District enjoyed studying Utah History and were enriched by witnessing a professional, classical music performance from one of Utah's most treasured musical organizations!

The Utah Symphony is one of only fifteen full-time professional orchestras in the United States. They have provided educational programs for schools for over half a century.

Due to the large number of fourth-grade students, two educational concerts were performed. This opportunity to have the Utah Symphony come and perform is made possible by the Utah State Legislature and the Utah State Office of Education’s "Professional Outreach Program in the Schools" (POPS).
