Jim (Shoe) Nelson, head baseball coach for Spanish Fork High, receives national honor

The American Baseball Coaches Association has named Spanish Fork High School’s Jim (Shoe) Nelson as National Coach of the Year for a mid-size school (between 1,599-1,800 enrollment). An eight-member committee selected Coach Nelson, which is Coach Nelson’s first national honor.

As reported by the Salt Lake Tribune, “Coach Nelson and his staff went 29-3 this season, working its way to its third state title. The Dons also won the prestigious Big Dugout Classic and finished with a top-10 ranking in most polls, including a No. 2 ranking by Baseball America.”

Congratulations on a job well done.
