Youth School Board meets with Nebo School District Board of Education

A highlight for the Nebo School Board of Education is meeting with the students representing all the junior high and high schools on a quarterly basis.

The Youth School Board takes turns discussing successes and concerns at each of their respective schools. The students responded that these meetings are beneficial because the students have seen actual changes made by the Nebo School Board as a result of their suggestions.

Rod Oldroyd, School Board member, said, "It is a great opportunity for the Board to meet with these representatives from the junior high and high schools. We get to hear firsthand about their concerns and successes. After hearing their comments, we really know the good that is happening by the students and student leadership."

Another advantage of these group discussions is learning from each other and implementing successful ideas in their own schools after hearing about how well it works in other schools. This sharing opportunity promotes friendships between the schools in our Nebo School District that is growing about 1,000 students yearly with over 29,000 students this year.

Each Youth Board representative is selected by his/her principal to be a spokesperson for their school.
