Nebo School District Teacher of the Year – Elaine Peterson – Spanish Fork Junior

Nebo District Teacher of the Year - Elaine Peterson Spanish Fork Junior

Elaine cares greatly about the success of Spanish Fork Junior High. She is highly respected by her colleagues and by her students. Students feel a real connection to Mrs. Peterson noticing that she helps all students to succeed. Mrs. Peterson’s public speaking class is popular among students for the real world skills taught. She does not hesitate to share her knowledge and skills with others and express her valued opinions. Mrs. Peterson organized a field trip for her history students to experience a naturalization ceremony at the state capitol and see our government in action.

Adam is a consummate educator who approaches his job with passionate enthusiasm. He does an excellent job of giving students multiple assignments and assessment opportunities to pass off learning objectives. Often Adam works one-on-one with a student and always trys to help their understanding. To have a teacher who knows and understands the value of such a learning experience is invaluable. This type of science teaching is 21st century.

 

Stephanie Swensen – Mapleton Junior

Stephanie Swensen - Mapleton Junior

Stephanie has set herself as a leader among her peers, a passionate educator, and an advocate for students. Stephanie is prepared, organized, and conscientious in her planning on her own as well as with her team. Students and parents feel comfortable approaching her about concerns and questions, and she is readily available to provide extra help. Her enthusiasm and passion for student success are infectious and inspiring.

 

Janelle Jensen – Mt. Nebo Junior

Janelle Jensen - Mt. Nebo Junior

Janelle loves students! She directs the Power Hour before school for students that want extra help on their studies. She also directs Saturday School on her own time and expense for students who are willing to come and work hard. Janelle contacts our Hispanic families and helps with action plans for their students. She is a great liaison with faculty members when they need help with English Language Learners (ELL). Janelle has a great working relationship with ELL students. They know she has high expectations. Her slogan is "no zeros". She is respected and for her service to students, parents, and administrators.

 

Lynette Ethridge – Payson Junior

Ethridge Lynette - Payson Junior

Mrs. Ethridge is committed to teaching excellence. She has a sound command of the content area and material of science and the German Language. Because of her strong teaching ability, she serves as a mentor teacher for first-year teachers. Students have a great desire to be in her classroom. They can freely ask questions and work on class projects and have the support they need. Mrs. Ethridge is innovative and uses new teaching techniques and methods.

Tiffanie Miley - Springville Junior

Miss Miley is a true credit to her profession. She stands as a person of influence. Miss Miley has been instrumental in guiding the school through the last two accreditation cycles. Miss Miley teaches a journalism class that produces a monthly school newspaper that is distributed throughout the city. She teaches a rigorous curriculum and accepts difficult assignments to increase student learning. Miss Miley is a dedicated professional. She works tirelessly to create a positive learning experience for all children.

 

Alesha LeMmon – Landmark High

Alesha LeMmon - Landmark High

Alesha is a difference maker! She is the student council advisor and has taken it to new heights. She organized a student float for the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days parade. Alesha has a passion for teaching and a passion for student learning. She genuinely cares for her students and their academic success. Her class lessons are hands on and inviting to students. Parents, students, and fellow teachers know that she will go the extra mile in helping them succeed. Because she has her students’ best interests at heart, she is able to inspire them to high levels of performance.

 

Melinda Hammond – Maple Mountain High

Melinda Hammond - Maple Mountain High

Melinda is extremely positive and enthusiastic! She is well liked by students, parents, faculty and staff. She has a high energy level and is dedicated to the social, emotional, and academic growth of students. She is a wonderful teacher and symbolizes excellence in education. Mrs. Hammond was instrumental in the startup of our new school. She spent many extra hours mentoring new teachers. Her professionalism, insight, leadership skills, and genuine concern for people is endless. To know her is to love her!

 

Kaye Moos – Payson High

Kaye Moos - Payson High

Kaye is a Family and Consumer Science teacher. She runs the preschool and serves as department chair. She is one of the most respected members on the PHS staff and others look to her for counsel. She has an innate ability to assess each situation and make a fair, rational judgment. Kaye has the ability to work with all students. She has a natural rapport and motivates students to excel in areas where they have struggled. Kaye is an outstanding individual and an example to the youth of community in word and action. Kaye is a trusted colleague.

 

Bart Thompson – Salem Hills High

Bart Thompson - Salem Hills High

Coach Thompson has an extraordinary ability to teach and connect with students! He is prepared for students and offers interesting lessons. He can be seen doing group activities with his students. The students are working hard and at the same time having fun. He expects excellence from his students, and they work hard to perform at the levels he requires. Bart was instrumental in creating the school’s curriculum and culture. He is a man of solid moral character and emulates the qualities of a professional.

 

Trina Ward – Spanish Fork High

Trina Ward - Spanish Fork High

Trina is a master teacher. The math department at Spanish Fork High is fantastic because of her contributions. She is a leader in collaboration and the intervention process. Ms. Ward is always striving to improve herself with advanced degrees, professional development, and is a fantastic instructional teacher. Her example, experience, and love for kids makes her one-in-a-million. Trina’s strong caring heart has influence for greatness on campus.

 

Lisa Simmons – Springville High

Lisa Simmons - Springville High

Lisa is a dynamic teacher. She is activity-based and uses great transitional strategies to engage her students. She is cutting edge with high academic expectations of her students whether she is teaching applied English or her AP Literature and Composition class. Ms. Simmons’ education and experiences lead to a rigorous and relevant experience for her students. She is ethical and has a great personal work ethic. She will always do the "right thing" and serves as an example for her colleagues and her students!
