Oakridge School was recently awarded a 2011 Utah Community of Caring Innovative Practice Award. The award is sponsored by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Center for Community of Caring at the University of Utah College of Education.

The award is given on the basis of a nominee application. Nominee’s must submit an application describing the Innovation in Character Education practiced in their school.

Oakridge School’s application describing how, "It takes a whole village to raise a child." was chosen to receive this award. "The administrative philosophy of Oakridge School finds wisdom in this statement and seeks to involve people from the community in helping prepare our students for their adult lives," wrote Dr. Richard Kay. School and district representatives have been invited to the awards dinner and ceremony at the University of Utah on April 6, 2011.
