Congratulations to all our wonderful teachers that inspire the minds of children!

Foundation President Blaine Bird said, "I feel very fortunate to be able to see the full cycle of how the Nebo Education Foundation is involved in helping the kids of Nebo School District. After we receive funds from the community, we review grant proposals from dedicated teachers who have specific classroom needs, then we are able to award a grant to that teacher who uses those resources to enrich the educational experience for our kids. It is a win-win-win program."

Springville High received a grant for guitar wind pickups.

Springville High received a grant for guitar wind pickups.

Dan Frewin, guitar teacher at Springville High, said, "I am excited to have been approved for a grant to help purchase equipment and supplies that would enable my guitar students to learn to wind their own guitar pickups for acoustic and electric guitar. Our Guitar program here at Springville High School has evolved over the years to include guitar construction, which can be expensive for the students that get involved with refurbishing or constructing guitars as a class project. Being able to make their own pickups would cut costs; and, I believe, would be an excellent opportunity to introduce some fundamental electronic principles to students, such as electromagnetic inductance, electromagnetism, DC circuits, and basic soldering techniques. Students would learn theory and techniques in electronics that would be useful to them in various applications for a lifetime.

"I am very thankful to the Nebo Foundation for the help and hope to have some new, hand-made pickups ready to install in the next few weeks! Thanks from all of us in the Guitar Department!"

The third-grade team at Salem Elementary received a technology grant.

The third-grade team at Salem Elementary received a technology grant.

Erica Erekson said, "Thank you so much to the Nebo Foundation for awarding us a grant to purchase document cameras, projectors, and carts for our third-grade team. In language arts the technology granted will be used during writers workshop as we model writing and editing, and share student samples of writing.

"To avoid using excessive amounts of paper, we will use the document camera to practice grammar, punctuation, reading fluency, and spelling. In math, these technologies will greatly enhance our ability to introduce concepts such as geometric shapes, fractions, multiplication, and place value. Not only will the equipment be used to introduce the concept, but we will use them throughout the unit to reinforce the material. We will also use this technology to help the students memorize math facts. Thanks to the Nebo Foundation for enhancing learning for the third grade students at Salem Elementary!"

Springville Junior received a technology grant for photography students.

Springville Junior received a technology grant for photography students.

Mitchell Cudney said, "Receiving this $400 will really help out some of my photography students. I will be purchasing four new digital cameras for students who have an interest in photography, but who don't happen to have access to a camera right now. This is only my second year teaching photography, and it has been fun learning along with the students. Sometimes equipment gives out or gets damaged and needs to be replaced. This grant will allow a few more students to have the opportunity to learn a new and exciting art form. I'm very grateful to the Nebo Education Foundation for this very generous gift to the students of Springville Junior High School. Thank you very much."
