First Day of School in Nebo School District - Answer to Wednesday Challenge

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

Wednesday, August 19, 2020, was the first day of school for Nebo School District students. Nebo School District is opening with approximately 34,000 students and 4,500 employees. Nebo opened with over 90 percent enrolling in “At-School Learning” and the rest with “Remote Learning” with a Nebo teacher. (Click through the photos to see some of the excitement throughout Nebo School District.)

KUTV2 News came to cover the first day, and the “red carpet” royal treatment was experienced by many Nebo students on the first day. Students were welcomed by large signs and tender messages. Our Nebo educators truly missed their students over the last five months.

The Nebo theme this year is “Be the MAGIC”–Mindful, Appreciative, Gritty, Innovative, Caring.

Some of the messages sent to students on the first day include the following:

“Yes, a lot has changed this year in 2020. But one thing that has not changed is the love our teachers have for your students.”

“Thank you families! ❤  Thank you for trusting your decision on At-School or Remote learning. Thank you for wearing your masks in the school building. Thank you for keeping everyone in our schools safe so we can stay open! Thank you for caring about your child's education. We've really missed you!”

“We were so excited to see students come back to school and wanted them to receive the ‘red carpet treatment.’ Spanish Fork Officers along with teachers and staff welcomed the students back to school. Thanks so much to officers Clint Peterson, Trent Shepherd, and Ryan Farnworth for helping us welcome our students to school. We have missed everyone!”

“It’s ‘Show Time’!!
And we’re Ready!!
Can’t wait to see our Amazing Students!!”

“Welcome Back Sierra Bonita Bears! What a great first week we have had!  The kids came all prepared with their masks and water bottles. It was great to see them all again and we are excited to be back learning face-to-face. Students did a great job socially distancing and being kind and polite to everyone! Way to be a Sierra Bonita Bears! Thank you to our PTA for the breakfast to our teachers, the support from our parents and everyone else that made this week possible. We got this!”

“There are several things we can do to be United in the CLIMB together like reaching out, making new friends, and being kind to one another. In addition, we can unite on the COVID mandates that are allowing us to return to school.”

“First day of school. AWESOME! I watched lots of kids and teachers smiling behind face masks. Kids laughing, running, playing and enjoying their day. I listened to teachers talk about how much they love their kids. (They are already saying ‘my kids.’) Teachers are happy to be back in school. I saw parents smiling and hugging their little ones. Now, let's do it again tomorrow!!!”

“Week one is on the books! We’re kicking off this weekend with a Virtual Applause Parade. Give our rock star teachers and students some love and a round of applause by posting the emoji in the comments. Let’s see how many we can get by the end of the day!”

“We missed you!”
