KSL Radio and Zions Bank honored Marcy Noorda, first-grade teacher at Brockbank Elementary in Spanish Fork, for the "Teacher Feature" program this past week. This program was developed to recognize outstanding teachers who have gone the extra mile, not only in the classroom, but who have also made a significant impact on many young lives. Mrs. Noorda is honored with a plaque from Zions Bank, an overnight stay at Anniversary Inn, a gift certificate for dinner at the beautiful La Caille Restaurant, a pair of season tickets from Hale Centre Theater in West Valley, and a $200 gift certificate to Smith’s provided by Superior Water and Air. All winners are invited to attend an end of the year banquet at La Caille in their honor. Shaunie Critchfield submitted Mrs. Noorda for the KSL Teacher Feature. Her letter read: "Mrs. Noorda is a first grade teacher at Brockbank Elementary. On Tuesday of this a week a new student joined her class room. He moved from Hawaii. On Thursday, he showed up to school without shoes. He was feeling embarrassed. Oftentimes shoes are not worn in Hawaii. I was volunteering that day in the classroom. When I got to school there were 20 pair of small shoes sitting under the children’s desks. The teacher decided to have the children remove their shoes so their classmate from Hawaii wouldn't feel sad. I was touched. Shoes were brought to the boy, and at recess time there were 20 kids putting on their shoes ready to go outside. There was a feeling of love and support given both by the students and especially by Mrs. Noorda. She is a wonderful teacher.” Congratulations Mrs. Marcy Noorda and a BIG thank you to all you continue to do for students at Brockbank Elementary in Spanish Fork!
