Nebo PEAK Award Winners February 2020

THE PEAK AWARD CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM
Nebo School District wants to showcase our Positive Energy and Kind employees. PEAK Awards are nominated by patrons and recognized by the Superintendent Staff and Nebo School Board of Education. The award is administered by the Communications and Community Relations Department.

Danny Lundell, Social Worker, Spanish Fork High
Nominated by: Melissa Nielson, Sharla Barber, Shannon Hales, Leslie Swenson, Dawn Draper

“Danny’s motivation is always to help students. By being such a great support and resource to all counselors, he has created a positive impact for so many students in our district.

“Danny has been so much help to all of the counseling teams in his new position. He is a knowledgeable resource (We think he knows everything!) and has facilitated collaboration and consistency among all of the counseling departments in the district.

“All of the counseling teams had a six-year program review this year. Danny assisted all schools and was such a valuable resource as we prepared our documentation to present. He took time with any school that wanted some extra help which lead to successful and positive reviews.” ~Melissa Nielson

“Danny always goes above and beyond to help all counselors in the district. He is also always willing to answer questions we have and go the extra mile to help us with our comprehensive guidance review. He loves students and will be starting groups at our school. We couldn't do what we do without him!” ~Sharla Barber

“Danny is so wonderful! He helps all of our students, and he is always willing and happy to help with anything we need. He goes above and beyond with everything he does. I am blown away by all he does. Thank you, Danny!!” Shannon Hales

“Danny is so willing to help all the time. He freely shares his knowledge and is always going the extra mile. He is excellent with students, parents and colleagues.” ~Leslie Swenson

“Anyone who knows Danny, knows what an amazing person he is. I have had the pleasure of working with Danny for over 10 years, and every interaction I have had with him has been a positive one. Danny has always gone above and beyond in every position he has held in the district. He has a wealth of knowledge and is always willing to help others out. I was thrilled to find out he was coming to Spanish Fork High this year as our social worker. He was instrumental in helping us to prepare for our guidance review this year and never seemed annoyed when we bombarded him with questions. It is an honor and a privilege to have Danny as one of my coworkers and friends” ~Dawn Draper

Sandy Caceres, Counselor, Diamond Fork Junior
Nominated by: Brenda Burr & Mike Sorensen

“Sandy is absolutely amazing! She is a dedicated educator who puts the needs of students at the top of everything that she does. She is willing to do anything that is asked of her, even when it doesn't fall within the scope of ‘counselor.’ Our students know that she cares for them and many know that they have a true friend and advocate in Ms. Caceres. She has developed a wonderful relationship with our Hispanic population, and our students and parents come directly to her knowing that she will help them in their situation or answer their questions.” ~Mike Sorensen

“Watching the faces of our Latino parents light up as Sandy welcomes them or comes into to help with a concern is one of the sweetest moments of kindness that I have ever observed. And, I get to see it over and over again! Parents feel her genuine care for their students. Sandy speaks Spanish like a native. Our ESL students love to be around Mrs. Caceres. She is their advocate. But it is all of our students and faculty that feel cared for by Sandy. She often stays after hours to make sure schedules are balanced just right, to figure out the best fit for students with special needs, etc. Beyond all of this, Sandy is an amazing single mother who also fosters children in her home who have been victims of abuse. She is truly our Diamond Fork and Nebo Hero!” ~Brenda Burr

Rhet Rowley, Assistant Principal, Mt. Nebo Junior
Nominated by: Amber Capell

“Mr. Rowley goes above and beyond to make each student and teacher at Mt. Nebo feel welcome and appreciated. He holds open the front door each morning and greets each person that walks through with a smile and a hearty ‘good morning.’ I have also seen Mr. Rowley take extra time and effort to apologize to students if he feels he has been in the wrong. Students are often surprised to be treated this way, and his actions definitely helped the students feel more valued and recognized.”

BJ Wright, Teacher, Sage Creek Elementary
Nominated by: Alison Hansen

“Mr. Wright does an absolutely exceptional job directing and rewriting our school play each year. He has a love and a flair for drama. He is personally involved in several city-wide productions in the summers and throughout the school year. With his knowledge and connections, BJ has created an absolutely amazing play and ensures that multiple students get lead roles such as many Alices in ‘Alice in Wonderland’ or multiple Peter Pans and Wendys for ‘Peter Pan'. Every student who desires to participate gets a part. Parents are truly amazed at his talent and ability. The school play is one of the highlights of our year. Mr. Wright is a gift to the Sage Creek community!”

Stacey Holmes, Secretary, Apple Valley Elementary
Nominated by: Monica Valerio

“Stacey wears a smile on her face every single day. She is kind, patient and does all she can to help everyone else's day run smoothly. She jumps in and does what is necessary, sometimes doing other duties, to help all students learn at high levels. We appreciate everything she does.”

Kellie Anderson, Secretary, Summit Center
Nominated by: Cynthia Van Buren, Janelle Kraling, Kathryn Salzl, Jeffrey Glenn, Carrie Denning

“Kellie is the first person parents meet when they bring their children to preschool testing. She is positive, knowledgeable, and helpful. She is able to put parents at ease. Kellie is organized and supportive of staff and makes it easier for all of us to serve families and children.” ~ Cynthia Van Buren

“Kellie is always smiling! She will stop what she is doing to help anyone and makes everyone feel important and valued. She goes above and beyond to help with extra projects. Kellie works tirelessly to improve the processes of preschool testing and is so flexible and professional even with difficult situations. I always love my days working with Kellie--and it's not just for her chocolate!” ~Janelle Kraling

“Kellie puts in extra hours and goes the extra mile to complete projects. She is prompt and thorough! I am so grateful to Kellie for all the things she does with a smile.” ~Kathryn Salzl

“Kellie works tirelessly to ensure everything is running smoothly. There are some really hectic days (preschool testing) when she is being pulled several different directions at once, and she remains positive and happy. Kellie is always willing to help and is always inviting when people come into the building.” ~Jeffrey Glenn

“Kellie is the glue that keeps us all working together. She is a step ahead of any planning or preparations that needs to be done. She works so hard to make sure every file is taken care of and everyone has what they need to do their job. Kellie is always willing to stop what she is doing to help someone else and does thoughtful extras on a daily basis.” ~Carrie Denning
