Red Ribbon Week Across Nebo District - Answer to Wednesday Challenge

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

Nebo School District schools participated in Red Ribbon Week this past month. Enjoy the many photos of events across the district.

Red Ribbon Week activities help educate students about the harmful effects of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs as well as violence prevention and awareness.

Students are encouraged through multiple activities to stay drug free throughout their lives. Students are taught about the side effects of drugs, and why Nebo School District students say NO to drugs. Some activities and themes include:

  • Motivational speakers,
  • A Chief of Police visit,
  • UVU Wolverine
  • BYU Cosmo and Cougar Strong Assembly
  • Students performed Thriller and “Say Boo to Drugs,”
  • Crazy Hair Day “It’s crazy to do drugs,”
  • “Nerds are smart they don’t do drugs,”
  • Silly Sock Day “Sock it to drugs,”
  • “Hand in hand we say no to drugs,”
  • Wear a Hat Day “Put a cap on drugs,” and
  • Dress like a cowboy “Cowboy up Against Drugs” to name a few.

Students, faculty, and parents are encouraged to sign a pledge to say no to drugs. The pledge for parents and adults asked them to set rules for their children, open the discussion about drugs, encourage other family members to stay drug free, and enforce appropriate consequences. The youth pledged to understand the dangers of drug use, respect themselves by being drug free, and to help family and friends understand the importance of being drug free.

Nebo encourages our students to stay drug free.

Congratulations to Alexandra Diaz for answering this week’s “Where are we Wednesday?” challenge sponsored by Wiggy Wash.
