Salem Hills High School Singers Perform at Prestige Conference

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

On October 27, 2018, the Salem Hills High School Singers, premiere choral ensemble from Salem Hills High in Nebo School District, performed at the Fall Conference of the Utah Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. Held at The Waterford School in Sandy, Utah, the concert was attended by many of Utah’s leading choral directors from secondary schools, children’s choirs, universities, and professional choirs.

The invitation to sing at the Fall Conference was based on an audition in May, 2018. The Salem Hills High School Singers were chosen out of many other applicants as one of 2 high school choirs featured. The Saturday evening session assignment was of particular prestige, being the closing concert for the entire conference.

As part of their performance, the Salem Hills High School Singers sang the world premiere of "On This Day of Forty-Four Sunsets", a new choral work by Utah composer Ashley Eyre. The choir represented Salem Hills High School, Nebo School District, the community, and their own families well.

Additionally, Salem Junior High School’s Bella Voce, the advanced women's chorus at Salem Junior High in Nebo School District, was invited to perform at the Fall Conference based on an audition. They were one of two junior high school choirs featured in the conference.

Congratulations to these wonderful, talented choirs!
