The Nebo Education Foundation board had a large number of grants in October. Here are a few more that received funds to meet the many needs across the district. This Foundation Board functions through generous donations made by individuals and businesses as well as fundraisers where all the money goes to educate students in Nebo School District. Thank you to all those that so generously supported Nebo students through donations.

Congratulations to the following teachers that continue to bless the lives of students.

Spanish Fork High - Angela Harmon
“Thank so you much for the grant to help purchase a new cello for the Spanish Fork High School orchestra program. Due to our instrument shortage, several students were having to share one instrument which was making it very difficult for students to practice regularly and complete playing assignments. My students and I are ecstatic to now have one instrument per student. Cello players are now better able to progress quickly and reach their potential with their instruments. We are so grateful for the Nebo Foundation! Thank you thank you thank you!” exclaimed Angela Harmon, orchestra teacher at Spanish Fork High.

Spanish Oaks Elementary - Emmalee Stewart
“Thank you Nebo Foundation for the grant for headphones. We are now able to have our students listen to books on My On. We can also use our Imagine Math program in class for students to do online math lessons. It will be nice to be able to use these interventions for every student at the same time,” stated Emmalee Stewart, third-grade teacher at Spanish Oaks Elementary.

Park Elementary - Cristina Marshall
“We are so excited to have received this money from the Nebo Education Foundation. We will be using this money to replace old, outdated, and unsupported Chromebooks. Chromebooks are vital in our classrooms. We use Google Classroom, which means that every student needs to have access to a working Chromebook. We also use the Chromebooks heavily during writing. Technology is vital in today’s classrooms and we need to make sure we are giving our students every opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Thank you Nebo Education Foundation for helping us keep technology in Park Elementary!” exclaimed Cristina Marshall, first-grade teacher at Park Elementary.

Canyon Elementary - Jasmine Weier
“Here in sixth grade at Canyon Elementary, we are so grateful to have received a Nebo Foundation Grant for $1,000 to be applied towards technology. This money will be used to purchase Google Chromebooks for our 98 sixth-grade students to use. Receiving this grant means very much to our team because our four sixth-grade classes are sharing two sets of Chromebooks. Having the opportunity to purchase additional devices allows more students to be working at the same time. Thank you so much!” said Jasmine Weier, sixth-grade teacher at Canyon Elementary.

Canyon Elementary - Kristen Money
“I am so grateful for the grant that I have received from the Nebo Education Foundation. I will use the money to purchase chrome books for my classroom. The chrome books will allow my students to work on programs at their own instructional levels while also allowing me to work individually with students on goals specific to their needs. The students are very excited about the opportunity to use chrome books in my special education classroom. This means I have an additional resource to keep students engaged in meaningful activities that correlate with the opportunities given in the regular classroom,” said Kristen Money, special education teacher at Canyon Elementary.

Salem Hills High - Amber Johansen
“Thank you so much for choosing to assist us with the funding for our costumes. During Competitions the dancers are required to wear a certain type of clothing to match the style they are doing. By having these costumes our students would be able to compete with the greatest chance for success. Not only will they use them at competitions, but they will also use them for showcases which help raise funds for our team. We are so grateful for your assistance,” said Amber Johansen, dance teacher at Salem Hills High.
