Nebo Choirs Selected to Perform at Abravanel Hall

The Salem Junior High and Springville Junior High choirs were the only two choirs in the state that were selected to perform at the Abravanel Hall, the premiere performing venue in Utah, for the State Honor Choir event in Salt Lake City. Any school in the state could send in a recording to audition to be selected; however both choirs chosen were from Nebo School District.

Springville Junior High’s Master Singers choir group has 75 students that consist of eighth and ninth graders.

“It was a great privilege to be selected to participate, and it was a wonderful evening for my students,” said Cheryl Utrera, choir teacher at Salem Junior.

Kari Kieffer, parent of Rachel Kieffer at Springville Junior said, “Rachel loved the opportunity and experience.  These two choirs represented our district very well. Great things are happening in Nebo School District!”

“Not only were the Chamber Singers invited, but the students gave one of the most stunning performances ever. These students are singing well beyond their years in both technique and repertoire this year. We have a very special group. They represented the school well, and I am really proud of them!” exclaimed Principal Robert Fleming at Salem Junior High.

Dalan Guthrie, choir teacher at Salem Junior posted, “I don't think I've ever been in the situation where I've teared up because of pride in someone. That changed tonight. I could not be more proud of my Chamber Singers right now. They gave a stunning and heartfelt performance at Abravanel Hall. I'm so fortunate to be able to teach these talented and dedicated students. I still can't get over the chord at 6:45. #IamLoved #IWillLove #8thand9thGradeFolks #proud #salemjrhigh #SaJHS #choir #GetOutThoseHeadphones.”
