Nebo’s CTE Administrator Recognized by State

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

Alan Ashton, Nebo's Career & Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator, was honored as Administrator of the Year by the Utah Association Career and Technical Education UACTE.

Mr. Ashton helped create the Advanced Learning Center (ALC), an early college and career center. He pushed to have the center focus on pathways and concurrent enrollment.  Mr. Ashton’s philosophy and educational mantra is that a CTE class should always lead to another class, certification, or opportunity to learn. CTE has always been a major part of Alan's life.

As a student, CTE classes were Alan’s vehicle to learning about electronics.  As a teacher, CTE courses were his vehicle to share his excitement about the world of technology and engineering. As an administrator, CTE courses were Mr. Ashton’s vehicle to help students find a passion for learning.  As a CTE Coordinator, CTE courses have become his vehicle to give students a value-added senior year and a head start into great careers, as well as to provide support to the CTE teachers in Nebo School District and the state of Utah.

Alan is proud to be nominated by the IT teachers in the state and selected as the Utah CTE Administrator of the Year.
