The Nebo School Board of Education and Superintendent Nielsen meets with students from each of the high schools and junior high schools on a quarterly basis. Each Youth Board representative is selected by his/her principal to be a spokesperson for their school.
This month, the Nebo School Board asked the junior high school Youth Board students questions. The junior high school students, in turn, answered questions and discussed topics on the following: “Students learn best when...”, “If you could change anything about school, what would that be?”, and “How do you use technology in class?”. The School Board of Education will meet with the high school student leaders in April.
The Superintendent and Nebo School Board gain insights into a regular school day and can make more informed decisions about matters concerning students. Another advantage of these group discussions is for students. These students learn from each other and implement successful ideas in their own schools. This sharing opportunity promotes friendships between the schools in our Nebo School District that is growing about 650 students yearly with over 32,000 students this year.
