Nebo School District Five Administrative Appointments

Dwight Liddiard–Human Resource Coordinator 
Dwight LiddiardThe Nebo School Board of Education appointed Mr. Dwight Liddiard as the Human Resource Coordinator of Nebo School District. 

Mr. Liddiard served as Spanish Fork Junior High’s principal for the past two years and was selected to open the new East Meadows Elementary in 2006 where he served as principal for eight years. He also served as principal of Larsen Elementary for nine years and at Park View Elementary for one year. Before becoming an administrator, Mr. Liddiard worked at the district office as the Curriculum and Testing Coordinator for four years and taught at Brockbank Elementary for eight years.

Dwight Liddiard has received numerous distinguished awards and leadership positions. He was selected as the National Distinguished Principal in 2013. This national award honored America’s best school leaders for sustaining strong schools. 

The National Association of Elementary School Principals stated, “This national award recognizes principals who make superior contributions to their schools and communities.” 

Dwight has served in ten leadership positions at the state level for the Utah Association of Elementary School Principals and in ten positions at the national level. He received the Utah Mentor Principal of the Year in 2011, the Utah Distinguished Principal in 2003, the Utah Instructional Leader of the Year in 2002, the Utah Reading Principal of the Year in 2001, the Utah Rookie of the Year in 1997, and was selected as the Utah Principal Academy Fellow in 2000.

Mr. Liddiard received his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and master’s degree in Educational Leadership both from Brigham Young University (BYU). He completed a Reading Endorsement in 2010 from BYU. Mr. Liddiard serves on the BYU Partnership Advisory Council and mentor for BYU and Southern Utah University (SUU). Mr. Liddiard is on the Adjunct Faculty for both universities.

More of Mr. Liddiard’s professional accomplishments include working with Early Intervention, Children’s Literature, Principalship Mentoring, and School-wide Balanced Literacy Implementation. 
Dwight enjoys collecting new ties and loves driving new cars. He is involved in the 4-H, Livestock shows, horses, and the family business–Circle V Meat.  He is married to Brenda. They have two children, Kaylee and Garrick. 

Matt Christensen – Principal Spanish Fork Junior High
Matt ChristensenThe Nebo School Board of Education appointed Matt Christensen as the principal of Spanish Fork Junior High School. Matt received his bachelor’s of art degree from Brigham Young University and his master’s of administration from Southern Utah University. He has worked in Nebo District for twelve years. 

Mr. Christensen served the last four years as assistant principal at Spanish Fork High and has taught world civilization, US History, world geography, sports psychology, weight training, advanced conditioning, and driver’s education. He also coached football for 11 years with 6 of those years as head coach. He served as assistant basketball coach and assistant girls’ golf coach.

Principal Dave McKee said, “Matt has tremendous ability in organization and interpersonal relations. He has gained the respect of all the students in the school and is fair, consistent, and enthusiastic. Matt is influential in developing a positive environment and increasing desires of others to excel in every aspect of their lives.”

Mr. Christensen’s said, “I believe being a positive role model is one of the most powerful forms of teaching. Our youth need good role models more than they need critics.”

Matt enjoys playing basketball and golf. He likes camping and spending time with his family. He is married to Jenifer, and they have three children.

Curtis Burton – Assistant Principal Spanish Fork High
Curtis BurtonThe Nebo School Board of Education appointed Curtis Burton as the assistant principal of Spanish Fork High School. 

Mr. Burton received his bachelor’s degree in history and English from University of Utah and his master’s degree in education administration from Southern Utah University.

Currently, Mr. Burton is serving as the dean of students at Salem Hills High. He taught English, yearbook, and supervised the student council at Payson Junior High for 11 years. He also taught at Spanish Fork High for two years.

Principal Peery said, “Curtis has done a fantastic job. He picked up the details of being an administrator quickly and asks questions when needed. Curtis works well with students. They respect him and still have fun with him. He has had to deal with difficult situations with students and parents, and he performs well under pressure.”

Mr. Burton’s philosophy includes, “When determining what method to use or implement in a class, I focus specifically on what will benefit the students most. I do my best to create and maintain an environment that facilitates student involvement, comfort, and confidence.”

Curtis enjoys coaching and supervising student athletics. He enjoys all sports, skiing with his family, and playing the guitar.

Curtis is married to Jill, and they have three children.

Elizabeth Reynolds – Assistant Principal Salem Hills High
Elizabeth ReynoldsThe Nebo School Board of Education appointed Elizabeth Reynolds as the assistant principal of Salem Hills High School. 

Ms. Reynolds received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Utah Valley University with a special education license and her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Brigham Young University.
Currently, Ms. Reynolds serves as the Dean of Students at Landmark High School. She taught special education at Oakridge for three years and at Salem Hills High for three years. 

Principal Troy Peterson said, “Liz is such an outstanding and talented educator. I would love to have kept her all year. Liz truly is a natural and a go-getter. She has tremendous work ethic. Liz is a great communicator and is able to ask difficult questions but keep things calm.”

One of Liz’s personal mottos is from Mother Teresa, “Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.” She said, “That is my goal with students and faculty that I work with.”

Liz loves to travel. Something interesting about Liz is that she has a school in Ghana and a charity in Croatia. She plays volleyball and loves to be outside. 

Suzanne Kimball–Curriculum Coordinator
Suzanne KimballThe Nebo School Board of Education appointed Suzanne Kimball as the Curriculum Coordinator for Nebo School District. Suzanne received her bachelor’s degree in English from Brigham Young University and a Masters in Educational Administration from Purdue University.

Mrs. Kimball had the unique opportunity of opening two new junior high schools, Salem Junior High for two years and Mapleton Junior High for five years. She was also the principal of Springville Middle School for four years. Mrs. Kimball taught English for six years and has worked in Nebo School District for eighteen years. Secondary Director, John DeGraffenried, said, “Suzanne is one of Nebo’s professional leaders in curriculum. She has always been an innovator and change leader. She works well with her faculty and staff.”

Mrs. Kimball was selected as Principal of the Year in 2011-2012 by the Utah Association of Secondary School Principals.  Suzanne received the Excellence of Education Award from the PTA in 2001 and the Reading Principal of the Year Award for Nebo in 2005-2006 by the Utah Council of the International Reading Association.

Suzanne enjoys reading, quilting, gardening, and organizing. She is married to Richard; they have three children, Abigail and Solomon 12 years, and Zadie Kay 7 years.
