Ms. Emily McBride, an eighth-grade English teacher at Springville Junior, was honored as English Teacher of the year by the Utah Council of Teachers of English. She is one of three that were honored.

“I feel honored and humbled,” said Ms. McBride. According to Ms. McBride she knows many teachers that she thinks deserve this award. Ms. Tara Piña, another English teacher at Springville Junior nominated Ms. McBride.

Ms. Piña said, “I originally nominated her because of the kindness and constant willingness to do all she can to be my friend and help me become a better teacher. But I also nominated her because of how much she truly cares for her students. Ms. McBride  is active in the extracurricular activities at the school including the school play as well as a digital coach for the faculty. Really, there aren't enough words and stories to truly explain why Ms. McBride deserves this award. The best explanation would just be the continuous thanks from all those lives she touches each day.”

Mr. McGuire, as well as a parent and a student also submitted letters recommending Ms. McBride for the award.

Mr. McGuire, the principal, said, “We are all very proud of [Ms. McBride].” According to Mr. McGuire he wrote a letter of recommendation, so he knew it was a possibility that she would be picked, and he was very excited that Ms. McBride won. He said, “It is very impressive that out of thousands of teachers, she got picked to be the English teacher of the year.”

Congratulations to Dave Harlan for answering this week's "Where are we Wednesday?" challenge.
