Celebrating National Principal’s Month - Answer to Wednesday’s Challenge

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

October is National Principals month. All Nebo schools recognized and celebrated their amazing school leaders. This is just one of the ways schools participated.

Park Elementary’s staff really went all out to surprise and thank their principal, Ryan Kay.  He is a huge NASCAR and demolition derby fan.

Adam Gull said, “Ryan does so much for our school, his family and community. He is also the director of one of the finest demolition derbies in Utah in his hometown of Nephi, so the staff decided to put on a little event to celebrate him as our leader.”

Rocky Giles from Rocky’s Tire Pros helped sponsor the event by delivering a wagon full of tires that stretched around the entire gym to make a race track. Each grade level prepared thoughtful gifts to present to Mr. Kay. Over 450 students cheered him on during the race between Mr. Kay and some teachers including Mr. James, Mr. Glenn, Mr. Hales, Mrs. Jones, and Ms. Williams. Mr. Kay won the race. (It may or may not have been rigged...)

Mr. Kay’s championship trophy states: "A Winner of a Principal".

“It was a special time to celebrate a great man that has given so much to make Park Elementary what it is today.  His efforts in building a community of leaders and learners is exceptional.” replied Mr. Gull. “We love Mr. Kay.  He is a winner that refuses to lose.”

Congratulations to Amy Darrington for winning this week’s, “Where Are We Wednesday?” sponsored by Wiggy Wash.
