Eli Herring - HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE - 2009

On behalf of Nebo School District and the coaching staff at Springville High School, Eli Herring has been nominated into the Nebo School District Athletic Hall of Fame for his positive role as an outstanding athlete. During his high school years, Eli participated in football, basketball, wrestling and track. He lettered in all four sports. He was captain of the football team his senior year at Springville High. He was also a member of the 1985 football team that took the state championship title. Eli was All-Region and All-State in football. He was also All-Region and All-State in wrestling. Eli earned four state championship titles and two state records in track. Eli earned his mathematics education degree while playing football at Brigham Young University. In his senior year in football, at BYU, he was ranked third in the nation as an offensive lineman. Eli also participated on the BYU track team. Eli served an LDS mission in Salta, Argentina. He decided to forgo the NFL because of his belief that the Sabbath is sacred. Eli is currently a math teacher and football coach for Mountain View High School. He continues to be a powerful influence in his work, community and church. He is married to Jennifer and together they have seven children: Hannah, Sarah, Rebekah, David, Elizabeth, Hadassah and Jonathan. Eli congratulations on being inducted into the Nebo School District Athletic Hall of Fame.
