Nebo Shines at Utah State Elementary Division I Debate

James Chamberlain and Nathan Galbraith, Hobble Creek Elementary, won the Elementary Division I First Place Affirmative Trophy at the Utah State Debate Meet on April 24.

Brockbank students, Elley Colledge and Natasha Bryson, won Elementary Division I Fourth Place Negative. Katelyn Hurst and Katelyn Gappmayer also participated in the state debate meet.

Hobble Creek students, Savannah McCulloch and Kylie Christensen, earned Sixth Place medals. Libby Anderson earned a Speaker Award. Shyler Mecham, Mia Anderson, Alyssa Walker, Brooklyn Asbell, Kaylee Metler,Joseph Asay and Max Lee participated in the state meet.

Mapleton Elementary students, Jackson Cottam and Weston Goulding, won the Sixth Place Negative. Colby Norman and Walker Crum debated in Division I.

There were 120 students in the Elementary Division. The issue debated “Be is resolved that the Utah state government should provide a tax credit or incentive to Utah businesses that provide their employees with a public transit pass."
