Nebo Education Foundation Delivers Grants - Answer to Wednesday's Challenge

The Nebo Education Foundation functions through generous donations made by individuals and businesses. The Foundation helps enrich students’ education in Nebo School District. These grants are funded through the fund-raising efforts of the Nebo Education Foundation board. One fund-raising effort is the annual “Green Fever” golf tournament that helps fund these various grants throughout the year. The “Green Fever” Golf tournament has been set for Thursday, May 14 at the Spanish Oaks golf course. Please come and support Nebo students.

“That’s what the foundation is all about – to give our students the best educational opportunities possible through classroom grants,” said Lana Hiskey, executive director.

Congratulations to the following teachers that continue to inspire the minds of students.

Salem Hills High – Laurie Hansen
Laurie Hansen, family and consumer science teacher at Salem Hills High School, said, “Thank you Nebo Education Foundation for funding new learning toys to be used at Salem Hills High School’s Kiddie Hawk Preschool.  The two-fold purpose of Kiddie Hawk Preschool is to provide preschool age children the opportunity to learn in a structured environment and provide high school students the opportunity to develop and teach lesson plans to the children by enrolling in the Early Childhood Education Course.  The new learning toys will provide the children with experiences to enhance learning and aid in the development of fine and gross motor skills.  The toys will also help the high school teachers provide added interest and creativity to each lesson they develop.  The hope is that as children use the toys and participate in the new activities created with the toys, they will develop an early love of learning and exploring.”

Orchard Hills Elementary – Alyson Norton
“I am so excited that we will be able to purchase the Story Champs & Blitz Extension intervention curriculum with the matching funds we received from Nebo Education Foundation!  The program and materials will be used as an additional tool to teach story structure and complex language features necessary for understanding and producing oral and written language, crucial skills that children need for academic success. As it can be used in the classroom with large groups, in small groups, and/or individually with students it has the potential to have a positive academic impact on hundreds of students over the years to come,” said Alyson Norton, speech and language pathologist at Orchard Hills Elementary.

Congratulations to Ellen-Anita Olson for winning this week’s Wednesday challenge sponsored by Wiggy Wash.
