Michael Johnson receives Rookie of the Year award

Michael Johnson, principal of Larsen Elementary in Nebo School District received the prestigious "Rookie of the Year" award from the Utah Association of Elementary School Principals (UAESP). Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor's Degree in education from Brigham Young University and Master's Degree in Administration from Southern Utah University. He also holds a Reading Endorsement and English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement from BYU. Mr. Johnson has served as chairman for a fine arts grant with Brigham Young University and Dr. John Goodlad's Center for Educational Renewal. He has worked with a team on creating an integrated fine arts curriculum as well as presenting art integration work-shops throughout the state. Mr. Johnson is currently in a two-year principals' academy program at BYU. With this academy, he has worked with colleagues across the state to help establish Professional Learning Communities in the schools. Innovative programs at his school include Professional Learning Communities, School Choir, MVP Student of the Month, CGI Math Training and Waterford Reading Programs. Congratulations Mr. Johnson!
