Spanish Fork Junior Orchestra Selected for The Music World Program

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

Angela Harman, orchestra teacher at Spanish Fork Junior High School (SFJHS), submitted an audition recording of the SFJHS orchestra to a program called, "The World That We All Deserve Through Music". This program is coming to Utah for the first time ever thanks to support from Zion's Bank.

Ms. Harman and the SFJHS orchestra was selected as one of only two schools in Utah to receive The Music World program. As a recipient of The World program, Spanish Fork Junior will collaborate with Ranaan Meyer, composer, bassist, and co-founder of the trio, Time for Three. Ranaan Meyer will develop a piece of music that is suited to the ability level of the junior high orchestra. This will involve one to two phone meetings with Ranaan, as well as a draft of the piece.

Ranaan Meyer plans to work personally with the students. He is currently working on composing music with three different ability levels in mind so that all 155 students at SFJHS at every level can participate.  There will be a videographer to document the experience and an edited video available at a later date.

As a participant in the program, Ms. Harman and the orchestra will be given digital copies of other works in The World That We All Deserve Through Music program, which includes several works for orchestra and band.

Congratulations Ms. Harman and the Spanish Fork Junior orchestra students for auditioning and being selected to be a part of the prestigious program.
