Submitted by lana.hiskey on

The Nebo School Board of Education welcomed Principal Garrett Andersen at Larsen Elementary. Principal Andersen thanked the Board for this opportunity and then introduced engaging students and adults. The students performed multiple choral pieces to the delight of the audience.

Nannette Jackson, School Community Council member, addressed the Nebo School Board. She spoke about the Star Reading Tutoring program that has seven volunteers from the community that are trained to help individual students with reading and comprehension. Also, Larsen provides a reading technician that reads one-on-one with students daily, and a math technician that works with upper grade students in the  fourth through sixth grades to develop math concepts one-on-one and  in small groups. Gifted and talented training is provided to teachers to enrich student learning.

Larsen Junior Ambassadors also presented to the Nebo School Board of Education and gave some of the following insights. Larsen Elementary emphasizes good character traits throughout the school by providing incentives to students who demonstrate positive behavior. Also, Larsen places emphasize on technology and recently purchased Chromebooks and iPads so they are available in every classroom in the school.
