Nebo School District, Springville High School Athletic Director Cathi Jarvis, and the coaching staff at Springville High School have nominated the Volleyball Teams from 1989 and 1990 for the Hall of Fame Award. (Quoted from the Yearbook) This volleyball team was the first to win a State Championship for Springville High School. As Freshman and Sophomores the record was 0-30. As Juniors and Seniors the record was 30-0. The Lady Red Devils went on to regions games and defeated Pineview in the final region game to become Region VIII Champs. At the State tournament the Lady Red Devils defeated Uintah in the first round. In the second round they played Box Elder whom they had no trouble pulling a victory. The Lady Devils than played a 2-1 game victory in the playoffs to proceed on to the State Championship match. Having been ranked number one in the state most of the season, the Lady Red Devils were under tremendous pressure. Taking an early lead over Pineview the Lady Red Devils managed to stay on top and eventually win 15-6 first game and 15-5 second game to become State champions! The teams motto was "Just Do It" Co-Captain Michelle Kirby said "It seemed to fit our season perfectly. We were told to "JUST DO IT" and we did!" In 1990 the Lady Red Devils volleyball team was fired up to win! They won the majority of their games. Experience, long, hard practices and the desire to win, helped them achieve their second State Championship title! Statement from Suzette Hartvigsen "I remember this team as being really good friends, they enjoyed playing sports together and were good friends off the court as well on the court. They loved playing sports most involved in not just volleyball but also basketball, softball and track. Most team members were three letter athletes. They are fun loving, competitive, beautiful ladies who really know what it means to be a team."
