Alison Hansen – STEM Grant Facilitator

The Nebo School Board of Education appointed Alison Hansen as the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Grant Facilitator for Nebo School District. Alison received her bachelor’s degree in Biology and Integrated Science and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership both from Brigham Young University.

Alison Hansen started her career in Nebo School District as a math teacher at Spanish Fork High School where she taught Chemistry. She then moved to Springville Middle School where she taught both science and math.  While teaching and mentoring, Alison continued her schooling and received her administrative license.  For the past ten years, Alison has been the principal of Brockbank Elementary in Spanish Fork.

Suzanne Kimball, who worked with Alison at Springville Middle and as an administrative colleague says, “Alison has always been a forward thinker who sees the vision of improved learning through active engagement and has the organizational and people skills to make it all work.  I have truly cherished the years I have worked with Alison and look forward to more.”

Alison has received numerous awards including 2010 and 2013 Nebo District Elementary Innovator of the Year, 2011 Nebo District Elementary Rural Principal of the Year, and 2014 Nebo District Elementary Principal of the Year. These honors were selected by the Utah Association of Elementary School Principals.

Mrs. Hansen said, “I believe magical things happen every day within a school, and its classrooms, especially here at Brockbank.  I’ve loved being part of the community, both by living here and rubbing shoulders each day with so many good people, both little and big. The students, parents, and staff at Brockbank are among the very best, and it has been my privilege to be a part of such an exceptional organization. I am excited about my next role in working with the students of Nebo District, I have always had a deep personal interest in science and math and look forward to this new challenge.”

In Alison’s new position as Nebo School District’s STEM Grant Facilitator, Alison will be able to bring the two worlds of elementary and secondary together and oversee the advancement of science, technology, engineering, and math coming together to give all ages of students the real world experiences needed to be college and career ready when they graduate from our district.

Alison enjoys water and snow skiing, traveling, gardening, but mainly anything with her family. She is married to David, and they have four children.
