Creating an Impact through Training

To start off the year, HOPE Squad advisors plan an initial training for HOPE Squad members which can act as a kick-start to the year and a way to inspire HOPE Squad members, showing them the importance of their role.

Advisors at Mapleton Junior High School (MJHS) designed such an experience for their students this year, holding their initial training in the outdoors at Shadow Mountain camp in Hobble Creek canyon. With the beautiful Uinta mountains as their backdrop, HOPE Squad students participated in activities and team-building exercises, getting to know one another and developing a sense of purpose for their group that would set the tone for their experience at school this year.

MJHS advisors invited Dr. Greg Hudnall to the training to speak to the students about the role and the impact of HOPE Squads all across the state of Utah. The students created posters to help promote the HOPE Squad, which now decorate the halls at Mapleton Junior High. Their training was a powerful preview for students of what their impact as a HOPE Squad could be this year.
