Nebo PEAK Performer from the Past–Bryan “Doc” Tobler

Nebo School District honors PEAK (Positive Energy And Kindness) Performers at the August Opening Institute that welcomes all 3,800 educators back for a new school year.

In 1972, Bryan Tobler was chosen to be the new band teacher at Springville High in the Nebo School District teaching grades 6 through 12 at Springville Middle, Springville Junior, and Springville High Schools.

When Bryan came to Springville High School, the band program was small with only about 20 students enrolled in the program. In 1984, the Springville High School Marching Band was invited to represent Utah in the Inaugural Parade for President Ronald Reagan in Washington D.C.

The Springville Band excelled on the field and in the concert hall for many years being recognized as one of the premier band programs in the state. They made many trips to perform and compete in Northern California where they always placed well and were known as "that band from Utah."

In 2003, Bryan Tobler was named the Outstanding High School Music Educator by the Utah Music Educators Association. In 2005, he was recognized as the Teacher of the Year in the Nebo School District. He was also given the Synergy Award for service at Springville High School that year.

Bryan retired in 2005 after 33 years of service to the Nebo School District. He and his wife Iris then left to serve an LDS mission in Nashville. After they returned, Bryan worked in a music store as a traveling representative visiting junior highs and high schools throughout the state. In 2010, he returned to the Nebo School District as a substitute teacher in the junior highs and high schools. He specializes in music and math classes.

Bryan and his wife Iris are the parents of five children.
