Teacher Wins Best of State Educator Award

Mrs. Ginnie Snyder, a phenomenal first grade teacher at Mapleton Elementary, was awarded Utah’s Best of State Award for K-12 Teacher in the Field of Education. The award is a fitting culmination of a 22-year teaching career, as Mrs. Snyder will be retiring this May.

Mrs. Snyder was recently named as the Region 10 Utah PTA Golden Apple Award Recipient for Outstanding Educator.  Her award nomination is currently in the hands of Utah State PTA judges who will select the six top educators in the state to honor at an award presentation held in May.  An announcement of Utah State PTA Golden Apple winners is expected in late April or early May.

Both award nominations – for Best of State in Education and Utah PTA Golden Apple – were submitted by Roxane Whyte, a PTA volunteer at Mapleton Elementary School.

Winners were announced on the Best of State website (www.bestofstate.org) last week, and will be given their award medallions by celebrity presenters at the formal/black tie Awards Gala on June 4, 2014 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City.  Ten category winners will take home a Best of State Statue--the BOSS®, for submitting the top entry within their respective category. The evening will be taped for broadcast.

The Best of State Awards were created to recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses in Utah. The Best of State Judges made their final decisions based on the following criteria, and nominees must demonstrate that they:

·            Excel in their endeavors
·            Use innovative approaches or methods
·            Contribute to a better quality of life in Utah

Congratulations Mrs. Ginnie Synder for an exceptional teaching career.
