Sage Creek Wins Big - Answer to Wednesday's Challenge

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

On March 29, Sage Creek Elementary took five student teams to compete in the Utah State Tournament of Odyssey of the Mind in Park City. Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides student teams with creative problem-solving opportunities that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.

All five of the Sage Creek teams placed in the tournament: 1st Place in Driver’s Test, 2nd Place in Stackable Structures, and 3rd Place in Not So Haunted House, This is How We Rule, and Driver’s Test 2. The team scores represent a combination of their long term problem presentations and spontaneous hands-on and verbal spontaneous problem solving during the competition.  The 1st place team qualified to attend the world competition in May at Iowa State University. All of the students spent months preparing their completely student-driven presentations and practicing spontaneous problems. They were so proud to be a part of the tournament.
